So what's everybody doing for brakes? (1 Viewer)

I need to get new brake pads and probably will need rotors too (mine are 11 years old and quite rusty), so I figure I'd just do them both now.
I used the search function and saw EBC pop up, they have a kit for dimpled & slotted rotors and green pads for 540,
or if I assembled my own EBC kit (slotted rotors and yellow pads) it goes up to 631.
I also found a Brembo non-slotted kit for 484.
I do mostly highway and city driving.

Would love to hear what others are using. TIA.

I did OE but if I'd thought it through I'd have gone with Powerstop or EBC pads and OE or name brand aftermarket solid rotors.

Bedding in made a huge difference.

Powerstop customer service is quite bad, in fact it is so bad they have a D- rating on the BBB and 2.7 stars on Google. Ask me how I know :). Many do like their rotor/pad kits, however.

My rig has Bosch rotors and Bosch Quiet Cast pads on it. Inexpensive on Rock Auto ($44 front, $64 rear for the rotors) and they are honestly quite good. I have over 40K on the rotors and they are wearing well with no pulsating or signs of warping. We also tow a 4K pound camper quite often and live in an area with lots of steep hills. I would not have bought them on my own, but they were brand new when I bought the rig so I just kept running them.

When these need replacement I may go with DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) rotors, which seem pretty cool. Or, just back to another set of Bosch pads/rotors as they have really worked quite well for the price.

I ended up buying the mid-priced EBC dimpled/slotted rotors, green stuff pads, and SS brake lines for just under 800 (w/coupon).

Full OEM pad, rotors, hardware, and Motive brake fluid flush… more than pleased with improved braking performance.

Parking shoes and hardware are still in excellent shape as well in the rear.

Akebono pads gave me oem quality feel and performance. Just recently went with Dynamic Friction ultimate pads and they seem to bite a little stronger. Brake flush bleed and flush made the biggest difference for me. I’m running Bosch ESI6-32N fluid.

I'm just sticking with the factory products for now.
Maybe later I'll upgrade to slotted/cross drilled rotors and high end pads.
So far my setup keeps me safe and I feel comfortable with it.

I worked for the owner of DFC at his previous company.
I'm also running the Ultimate pads. They produce a fair amount of dust, but provide decent bite and good temperature range. They squeak at light pedal pressure though. A bed -in should solve that issue.

Brake pads are not a one size fits all. What works for one person daily driving doesn't work for the guy whose overland rig has steel bumpers and loaded up over gvwr. I put on new rotors and new ceramic pads. I quickly developed pad deposits (that warped rotor feeling, but it's not really warped rotors). I got my rig weighed and understood why. When loaded for a trip, w/ 3 adults and a child, the rig is about 7300lbs. I got an AL front bump w/ winch and a rigd tire carrier. It's a stock rear bumper.

Just did my fronts with EBC Green Stuff pads and Brembo blanks. Very very happy. Moderate improvement in all aspects of braking. Pads have a back plate, and a noise maker installed, get new pins and clips.
