So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us) (12 Viewers)

Yeah, I'm mildly annoyed I have five months on a set of 285/60s and probably years and years of use before I can justify replacing them with the same tire.

Yay timing..
It’s sort of a me too thing. Just so you know, if you don’t mind the hassle, I’ve had good luck selling used tires locally on Craigslist.

I’ll wait a while for the depreciation curve to flatten out a bit.. but thanks for the info. Really the 285/60s are working great for my uses.. very much just unfortunate timing.

Lords of Mud, hear my prayer:

I tried looking in the wheel and tires database, but can't find anything regarding the biggest tire I can fit on stock suspension for a 2021 LC. Any KDSS friendly advise would be appreciated.

hominey dominey, amen.
275/70/18 BFGs work, just FYI. Anything bigger, you need to start moding something here or there. The Michelin will work since they are less aggressive. Good luck ! And congrats on a nice truck !

Ok, took the plunge. Like someone said here, be man enough to accept the reality! 😂🥳.

For what it is worth, $1542 in Houston with Discount Tire. Installed, no certificates.

Went with the same size of the KO2 I currently have: 285/65/18s load E. Shucks, these tires (or tires in general) are expensive: $372 a piece. Got 4. Will use my best KO2 as spare. Install Monday, I will snap a few pics. Service gent said these last 70k and sometimes he has seen 80k miles. We shall see. KO2's are/were 52k miles.

Happy weekend y'all !

New Defender LTX MS2, 275/55/R20 on LX600. So far I really like them, need to get some miles on them and I set the PSI to stock 33.

lol, I was waiting for him to check this post to see if I’m correct with the little bit difference in size (from 265 to 275.)

I don’t know how they did it, but somehow these tires look even less aggressive than the last gen defenders. I just put a set on my wife’s truck and Im underwhelmed with the lack of lugs.

Really? My buddy has an 1500 RST pick up with the older MS and we both thought the opposite, mine looking better and more aggressive. I’ve had the KO2 2x and I just can’t justify a tire like that for what I do (except for looks) anymore. These are going to be just right as all I do is the beach and some snow every so often.

Before you decide on Defenders consider this option...

I have to agree with TLC Dan. A couple months ago I needed new tires so I started the search and purchase with 285/65/18 K02s on my 2014 LC. Loved the look but was not crazy about the ride. More off road focus than I needed and felt the ride was rough. I then switched over to the new Defender MS2. E rated 285/65/18. Loved the ride and handling but was never happy with the look. Missed the white letters of the BFG and just did not hit the mark for me on what I was going for. Finally found the BFG Trail Terrains in 275/65/18 SL rated. Just as smooth as the defenders because of the lower psi and SL rating as opposed to the E rated defenders and IMO look much better than the defenders with the white letters that I was looking for. Can’t give much feedback off road but on road both around town and cross country in heavy rain, the trail terrain has won me over. Perfect tire for both ride and looks. So for me personally, the BFG trail terrain gives me the looks of the K02 and almost as good as a ride as the MS2. Just my opinion.

Do they make the Defenders in E-rated? I need some new tires within the next few months and these would likely fit the bill. I can only find the XL on DT. For those get E-rated, can you point me in the right direction? Maybe I’m looking up the wrong model. Would be on an 18” wheel. 2011 LC

For some reason this says it wouldn’t fit my 2011 LC200.

@sleepycruiser , see my post above. E rated.

Cheers

I had 275/70/18 they were boss and E rated

Like defenders in the first place, XL is probably a better fit for most of us than LT-metric anyway.

The Defender LTX MS2 in 20" size is 40 lbs which is on the light weight of the spectrum.
I was waiting for a good rebate for months but never happened.
I'm not saying they are not good, but wanted to try something else.

After cross shopped all the usual AT tires, what I think I want is a burly HT tire for my LX.
I went with a heavier tire (on purpose) from Goodyear, weighted 43.6-44.5 lbs on my scale, 12/32" tread depth. This is heavier than some AT tires, maybe due to the Kevlar. Just a note.. Goodyear label all their Wrangler as All-Terrain, even when the treads obviously is HT style. But it's a good looking tire.

I have handled and mounted Geolandar and Defenders, their side walls feels soft and floppy to me.
This tires I can tell is stiffer in the treads and the sidewall.
Anyway here is what they look in real life.
