I do not have the SC! I moved to Knoxville TN, a guy from Philly came down and drove it home! It was an amazing car and I probably should not have sold it.. but yes! Just bought a 100.. same colour as yours! It needs a little body work but all the mainteance and stuff is been done. Got a sweet job back in my hometown of STL, ready to go on some adventures.

If anyone was interested in updates:

I finally received an initial figure from the other driver's provider today. It's very, very low compared to what I had in the truck. I will update as the negotiations progress.

I might also have a new galactic gray mica '05 LX. Working this negotiation and a remote inspection out for tomorrow before pulling the trigger.

That sucks man, ime some companies like to play hardball, thinking the average person doesn't know thier rights. Most will fold as soon as they realize they are dealing with someone who knows what they are talking about and isn't going to roll over and take it. They pulled that number from a book. Do a little research on how your state handles these types of claims, cite cases to the adjuster, explain your aren't afraid to litigate, it's not worth it to them, they will fold eventually.

If they dont total, make sure and ask about diminished value.

Thanks. They did bump their figure up, but hardly enough yet. I did advise them of where I wanted to be and that I could make the other phone call but would rather not.

Oh it's totaled. They estimated at $15K for repairs.

I used to represent homeowners on home insurance claims. When they would first meet me to go over the damage idk how many times they would low ball me or outright deny claims. I would very politely but assertively tell them I understand they have a job to do, save their employer money, and I have a job to do, look out for the home owners interests, and the inform them that I understand how arbitration works and I know what they are contractually obligated to under the policy and the law. So you go ahead and do your job, get me the paperwork, and I'll get to doing mine. 9 times out of 10 I'd get a call back, claim paid in full. They don't want to waste time fighting when they got a line of other people waiting to be screwed.

Man that is a very very low offer. Just keep negotiating and eventually they will fold. You are just asking what you feel the vehicle is worth. Hopefully this won't drag out for months and months.

Still negotiating with the insurance group for the two figures (property and everything else) but, a rolling stone gathers no moss so I went ahead and bought a new truck.

2005 LX, 210K, 2 owner, galactic gray mica over tan guts, local VA truck its whole life with a clean story and stack of records. The pics I have are terrible from the seller but I'll be heading to VA this weekend to pick up. More money that I'd originally planned on spending but I'm happy to have the updated interior and the 5 speed. Plus, it'll be nice to have a few of the LX options back as well.

Now we start again...

First mods should be body armor! Steel front and rear bumpers!

You know they're on my short list now. I'm going to wait a little bit to see what sort of payout I receive before I go crazy with expenses again. Lesson learned, the addage of "something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it" only counts when not dealing with an insurance settlement.

First mods within the next week or two will be tint, remote start, AHC delete and tough dog install, sliders, wheels and tires. Plus whatever maintenance if any needs to be caught up. If I end up with a few bucks over from the settlement, I'll be hitting up @benc for a full steel front end. The aluminum would be nice but 2 auto-deaths due to front end collision make a great case for steel.

It's been said before here but bears repeating: stick to your guns. My wife works for a major commercial insurance company based in Connecticut and i can tell you they'd rather not pay, but if you are tenacious enough they won't want to drag things out. Someone earlier mentioned "there's a long line of other people they can screw..." which is so very true. Your thorough documentation, paired with your willingness to stick things out and not take their lowball offers, make it a solid case for you getting what you deserve for your totalled truck. Oh, also: didn't you say you were rear-ended? I live in NC now but am from TX, and back home that was an automatic at-fault, rear ending someone! They don't want to get sued any more than you want to go through that legal hassle, but now that you've got a new vehicle, it's not like you're riding the bus waiting on them to pay you, so...there's always that next phone call that can be made. I mean, Hotlanta? I'm sure there's some good legal representation to be had there, SOMEWHERE...

So if you're in the Pinehurst, NC area otw up to VA and you need a hand, hit me up! Safe travels and best of luck with the new LC!

Thanks to all for the advice and support. This is a great community and frankly I've had more contact from MUD members and Cruiser guys than friends and family since the accident! I guess only we really get the full suck of the situation.

The offer from them did increase solidly into the 5 figure range. Almost doubled from their original, actually. I'm waiting to hear back what the other side of the equation will offer (pain and suffering, medical, lost wages and such) before I spend much more time neogtiation but I think we're going to be in range for a satisfactory settlement. I don't really care which pot the money comes from, it's all going to the same account.

And for those interested... This is Gerry. She's a very, very dirty girl right now but I'll have her cleaned up in no time. Keep an eye out for the next build thread soon.

That’s a nice one GA! Keep on them though and get more than that unless u are truly satisfied. Remember that u have more into ur old truck than that. Make take a little longer to settle but it’s ur money.

We’re your receipts at 16k after purchase price? Sounds like they’re willing to climb if they jumped that much on the first revision. Good luck.

Very nice looking replacement. Will look even better after being built.
