We got snow up here. It's hard to tell how much because the wind has drifted it, but did I mention that we have snow?:bounce:

Snow wheeling is coming...:steer:

Here to Jack!
Though it looks as if its stopped now.

Yeah it would be much better if there wasn't any wind. Did I mention I hate the wind!

We have snow in Fallon too but I bet not as much as Reno.

We have a trace of snow here at 5,000' in SW Reno.

So does Darcie.

I think we ended up with maybe 1/2" last night. Once the sun came up, it showed how little we really got.

Supposedly the big storm is coming.

150' of sidewalk X 4' wide X .5' deep = 300 cu ft of snow. Never mind the driveway.

I'm not a huge fan of snow right now.

Can't wait to do a proper snow wheeling trip. I have to try and get up to the fire watch tower above verdi every year. It's like an addiction. :steer:

Picked up some RUD 4x4 snow chains this week. I'm down for some snow wheeling!

oh and I saw Darcie driving the truck today :steer: I was with my mom and she said, "unless jack is a woman that's not him!" :grinpimp:

My buddy Ali, keeps trying to talk me into chains for mine. I have resisted so far...I hate chains.

Yep, she has been driving it to work this week. Much better that her little silver bullet in the bad weather. ;)

We were going to be leaving town over Christmas weekend, but that may not happen. If it doesn't, that might make for a good weekend to try for the tower. Either Sat. or Sun.

If we don't end up leaving town, I will post something and maybe we can get a few people together for the fun.

I see what you mean, they can be a pain on the trail in the cold, but the extra traction can come quite handy at times.

If you do decide to get some, order them from Bill Burkes website and they'll call the Rud warehouse in sparks so you can pick them up that day. It's right behind the police department on prater.

Hey Jack.

I know you hate chains, but just wait till you hit some of the snow that has melted just a little, then frozen hard on top again. It's like a big slushie the first inch, then after that it's got a hard crust, then no bottom.

As long as you sit on top and spin, you're o.k. except you don't move. Then you shovel a trail, throw down some floor mats and move 3'. Move floor mats, drive 3', over and over till you get to the other side, or until you break through and sit on the axles with frozen powder flying in all directions.

Then again.... I might just be imagining all that from a really, really, did I say REALLY, bad dream that lasted 10 hours and got us about 5 miles....

Snow has redeemed itself with me.
First off I got home last night and found all the sidewalks and driveway clear from Monday nights snow. :princess: is a wonderful woman.

This morning I took the back road, over Mira Loma to Hidden Valley, to work.
It was already starting to pack down but you could still find stretches of fresh stuff. It was nothing like the ice rink on Damonte Ranch. And it was fun driving with no yahoo's to worry about. Looking out over the wet lands with a little pogpnip on the tules, alpine glow on Mt Rose, and a Red Tail hawk pacing me was about as good as it gets. Further on there was a coyote hunting on the edge of the marsh and a group of wild horses that barely lifted their heads as I drove within 5' of them.

It sucked to hit the pavement but it sure is nice to work a little offroad time into the daily commute.

In spite of losing another wind shield, it was another good commuting day.
I had my camera with me. No wildlife other than horses though.

This guy wasn't phased by me driving by. I think he was hoping for an apple or carrot.

Those horses are pretty comfortable with people.
I take Gunner for walks back there, and theyll come right up to you.
I try not to get too close though, cuz the may secretly want to do harm to me or my puppy.:hmm:
I friend of mine from work wants to go do some exploring in the hills back there. If we do something soon, Ill give you a call. Itd be cool to get back to the petroglyphs. He's got a lil jeep wrangler he'd be driving. He talks SMACK about Toyota's all the time.:flipoff2::lol:
