Let's go make a fool of ourselves on FR126 🤣. I'm thinking we can start at La Cueva on FR126 & hwy 4 intersection and head towards Cuba. We may not make it far but at least El Bruno will be waiting for us. The food there is awesome so I figured on making that the destination.

I'll bring snowshoes so that we can putt putt around a bit to get some exercise.

Let's meet at the Home Depot in Rio Rancho hwy 550 at 9am, wheels up by 9:30.

Bring the kids, sleds, dogs, tire chains, food, hot chocolate, etc. If we actually make it to El Bruno for dinner, we'll be back to RR probably by 7, otherwise, we hope to return by 5. Here's the route: Amanda's Jemez Mountain Country Str to El Bruno's Restaurante y Cantina - https://tinyurl.com/3uc7awu6

Isabelle's tire chain parts will be arriving tomorrow so that's the only hiccup. I'm having FedEx hold her shipment at the depot for me to pick up tomorrow, Friday. Her 4runner won't be any good with the diamond chains she's been using. They aren't aggressive enough for the deep snow conditions and she's been damaging the chains from too much wheel spin.

Post up if you can make it.

Let's go make a fool of ourselves on FR126 🤣. Based on my work schedule, I'll setup the day but they haven't told me which day i can work 😠. But I wanted to let y'all know so that you can have a soft schedule!!

Isabelle's chain parts will be arriving tomorrow so that's the other crutch. If FedEx is stuck due to snow, her 4runner won't be any good with the diamond chains she's been using. They aren't aggressive enough for the deep snow conditions and she's been damaging the chains from too much wheel spin.

Maybe I'll have FedEx hold at depot.🤔

What size tires?

Updated first post. Sunday is the day!!!

I'm in.

I may be there too if the miss does not have plans.

Do I need chains to join, or can I just bring a snatch strap to piggyback on Ali’s 80 all day?😝
You're all good Bryan, join us. Can you bring your dogs? We'll have a female labradoodle with us. Isabelle is dog crazy 🤣

Have fun guys. Will be dune bashing in Dubai this afternoon. There will be 🐫 and belly dancers, I hear.
Larry,

Please bring back a 1HD-FT turbo diesel engine and a manual 5 speed tranny. Do appreciate 😁

I am not going to make I have to do work stuff for Monday. If anyone needs anything while you up or just want to stop by for a chat, you are welcome to stop by.

Paging the Donner party… 🤔

Hope you had fun and aren’t still up there buried to the frame with trees just beyond your winch line reach

Last Sunday's snow wheeling was off the hook. We had deep snow, stuckage and of course LOTS of mud!!

The route was 38 miles from La Cueva (intersection of Hwy 4 and FR 126) to Cuba, NM. El Bruno was the restaurant we had as the target destination and we promptly got stuck where the forest service stopped plowing and THAT'S where the fun began. This is the coords 35.96401, -106.71419 of that location.

As we all found out, pulling out a 7400# 80 series landcrusier takes a whole bunch of effort. I fell into a bar ditch on the right side of the trail and buried the passenger side in deep snow. The extraction required Herculean effort by two winches with an anchor vehicle. This didn't work so Lee (in the 5th gen) turned around and used Jon's kinetic rope to yank me out. This took about four tries !

After that my daughter got stuck and experienced her first kinetic rope yank. The video of her suprise reaction and bumping the horn is amusing. After making new tracks for a little while, Brandon in the GX 470 took over the lead and plowed a virgin FR125 for a while until the snow eventually turned to mud. There was a LOT of mud and IH8MUD :-)

We made real good progress and aired up here 35.94282, -106.78586. I think we were at El Bruno's by about 5ish and back in RR by 6:30 or so. All in all, it was a great day of enjoying the outdoors while learning various recovering techniques. No carnage to report, thankfully! I'm looking forward to the next snow adventure where we'll hit FR103 to see how far we get from FR126.
