The smog pump finally went out. I used a spare AC belt to get back on the road using the crank to alt to water pump method.
I replaced the pump with a re-manufactured Cardone. It seems to be good quality.
Everything seems great... but, now the drive belt rubs on the smog pump flywheel. I see no adjustment to make the pump go from back to front (grill to firewall) direction (it fits snug in the bottom bracket). The flywheel is installed correctly because it only went on one way. It's driving fine, but the drive belt is getting a little love from the flywheel.
Any clue as how to resolve this issue?
BTW, I was able to install the smog pump without taking off the power steering pump. It was tough, but I think it went faster than uninstalling all the PS junk.
Another frustrating thing was that the reman pump fit into the bracket so tight I had to use a board and hammer to get it aligned so the long bracket bolt would go through. This took some time and frustration.
All and all I have no squeaks or squals coming from the smog pump; minus the belt rubbing.
Thanks for the help.
