So my Smog Pump shot craps and locked up just recently. I purchased one from O'Reilly the Cardone Remanufactured #33-768 and the one I received looked nothing like my OEM one so I sent it back and sent my OEM to B-Z Rebuilders. These guys rock, turn around time was fast and the rebuild cost me $225. Will install it at some point when I have time, at the moment I'm running TLC pulley which by the way is a nice alternative! My truck has not been de-smogged so will re-install the smog pump soon but wanted to share my experience with B-Z Rebuilders thus far. Here is a pic of the remanufactured pump as well.

Is it possible you got the ford pump from O’Reilly? I think there’s a ford pump that fits but looks different. My memory is foggy on this one.

I suppose so, the take offs of the two pipes where shorter and at slightly different angles. It may have worked with some retro fitting but after reading a few positive things about B-Z Rebuilders and for less $$ than the one from O'Reilly I sent it back and shipped mine to B-Z.

hi guys, I used this forum and threads to help rebuild/restore my smog pump from a bmw e34 m5 motor! For some reason Denso supplied them all round, from bmw, to mg and to Mercedes etc.

I filmed the whole process and thought I’d share it with you, hopefully it’ll help some of you out there!

Cheers

I wanted to share my findings regrading the unobtanium bearing DB-36227. My search for this bearing as I am also rebuilding my pump, led me to find out Ford used this same bearing in 66-67 Ford Econoline and they did sell it individually under part# C6AZ9B477-A. Vanes look identical as well since the bearing is a match.

(summarized from another thread)

The FJ60 smog pump uses six vane roller bearings 2/vane (P/N NSK J-65) plus the front sealed ball bearing (P/N NTN 6204LB, this is a common bearing but you need the LB suffix), and the rear roller bearing (P/N NSK DB-36227) which is listed by NSK as an OEM part which is not for sale. I've never been able to find it. Maybe you can ... And if you do, or even find a suitable replacement, be sure and list part # here, please. :)

The Ford Part # above C6AZ-9B477-A looks to be unobtanium, too. Some variations: C6AZ-9B477-A, C6AZ*9B477*A, C6AZ9B477A
