Yeah its not uncommon to weld those gears together but it was done horribly. i barely pulled on it and it just came apart. The welds were probably already broken. And Michael told us how to do fool with the tcase, so credit to him haha.

Drove Woody for the first time tonight :)

No catastrophes! Didn't get up past 35mph, but no vibrations or death wobble to speak of. I need to tweak the proportioning valve some though since the rear brakes were only at like 43%. Would've done it tonight, but it got dark all of a sudden.

The steering felt great, definitely needs to be aligned tomorrow, and I have like 3" of play in the steering wheel that id love to get rid of, and i need to figure out why i can turn so much more to the right than to the left. Didn't seem to be the steering stops, so maybe the ram mount on the tie rod needs to be move a little more passenger. but other than all that, I'm really happy with it!

Still need to move the upper rear shock mounts so that i can actually run rear shocks again, that will be a joyous day! Been like 10 months since I've had rear shocks...

Also gotta make longer links for the front sway bar.

May need to add a little more ATF to power steering and the transmission, but other than that i think I'm good.

Witnessed the test drive this afternoon! Saw a rather large (tall) cruiser and thought, "Cool!!!!" When it passed by I saw the woody and said, "that must be Patrick!!" So I called, and it was indeed. Truck looks super awesome. Insanely tall, and awesome.

Yeah its way too tall, I'll be looking into frenching the shackles at lunch tonight. Thanks for the compliments Sam

And It was super rainy yesterday (and today) but dammit i had a deadline that i couldn't miss. So Aidan and I worked through the wet and FINISHED THE SPRING OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the test drive i noticed that i couldn't turn nearly as well to the left ask could to the right, i thought i might've put the steering stops in the wrong place and was really worried until i got over there this morning and immediately saw that the problem required much less welding... just needed to rotate the ram mount up on the tie rod so it stopped hitting the unbolt haha.

On to poser neighborhood shots :)

Already rubbed the knuckle ball paint off haha, and my ghetto fabbed front spring hanger that i need to replace... those washers gotta go lol

And i need to cut the diff breather.

Street wheelin in the ATL after leaving ACC, nothing was screaming at them to change, so i felt good about that!

And Woody's usual stomping ground, sitting still on the highway...

Things id like to look into:
-LOWERING the height. The rear is a little stink bugged and id like to rectify that by fixing the rear shackle angle. Also looking into frenching the shackles into the frame.
-Thats it, everything else is perfect for me. Even the brakes work as well as my brother's 80 on 35s. Im pumped and not scared to drive Woody anymore lol!

looks good, can't lower it much without getting tires into the wheel wells, that is unless ya wanna trim the wood grain back a bit. I'd leave it!

Re: lowering the height:

1. Fridge. :)

2. Drawer system. :)

3. Some old 60 leafs.

:)

Looking great Patrick.

IMO, H55/split case would be the bees knees and you would have a bad ass 62.

DO IT!!

:)

Call me crazy but I've been getting this feeling like i want to do a little sheet metal cutting... the front fender just a couple inches like GLTHFJ60's 60. Id test it on rusty or my busted passenger fender) and the rear i have that cancer spot right next to the exhaust that id like get rid of. I just may have to wait until i can desmog Woody because I've got a whole bunch of crap connected to the inner fender...

Thank you, Onur :)
Id really like a drawer/fridge setup but i haven't seen one that allows me to still (sort of) stretch out and sleep in the back still. But I know id like that stuff one day because i hate buying bags of ice. And Ive been thinknning about just replacing the modified IM spring packs with stock springs and an AAL, but I'm worried that if i lower it too much it will screw with my perfect pinion and castor angles?
I have sat my fat ass down on the rear tailgate though to sort of get an idea of where it will sit once i get a rear tire carrier, and it does settle down about a 1/2 inch, so I'm trying to work that into the equation as well. I think that would at least get rid of the string bug look i have going on..

H55 will definitely happen one day as well. Got no GF to spend every cent on so might as well be the truck while i still can lol... and i need to learn to drive a manual :princess:

I know everyone is thinking it, the burning question we all need to know, WILL IT CLEAR THE DRIVE-THRU AT STARBUCKS AND THE PARKING DECK AT THE MALL????????????

Hahahahahahahahaha! I hate coffee and i don't do parking garages. As long as it will make it through the Zaxby's drive through, I'm set. But that remains to be seen lol!

Another fun day working on trucks with other GA Cruiser members :)
A few of the trucks showing 20 years of Toyota. 1973-1993.

Nice little RTI ramp in Johns backyard haha.

Thanks Ted for the pics!
Nothing contacted anything else and there was no rubbing anywhere so thats good.

Failed my very last emissions test today :)
Thats annoying. Guess were gonna swap on Rusty's much newer and better exhaust sometime and hope for the best. Or i just need to dodge the 5-0 for the next 5 months.

Did they say why it failed? Also shouldn't that thing be exempt?

This is my last year for emissions. Maximum NOx level allowed on the test was 990, my NOx level was 1940...

Well hopefully have the exhaust swapped out and finished by tomorrow, its 3" pipe and BOTH cats are routed inside the frame instead of one being routed UNDER the frame all stupid like. Ive wanted to change it out anyway so i guess heres my reason to quit procrastinating.

Edit: Should sound better too with larger diameter pipe and magna flow muffler. Hopefully not to loud though.

We ended up not swapping the entire exhaust over to woody. It was in too poor a shape. So "Aidan" just swapped one of the cats. I then went to take the test again to see if made any difference at all and somehow we actually passed! So now I'm happy that i can quit worrying about the cops and I can start looking into redoing the whole exhaust to make it look pretty and not sound like farts.

Thanks Onur :)
That drivetrain of yours is gonna be killer when finished, so I'm sure ill be green with envy hahaha

Edit: Just got word from Kevin last night that my WagonGear panels have been completely redone and are ready to ship!

Anybody have any experience with V8 swaps (definitely gonna be annoying Brian about the swap he just did)? I'm not setting anything in stone, but I'm getting a similar feeling as I did when I began planning for the SOA... And it feels nice haha.

Im thinking either a newer 5.3 Vortec (since they're cheap as hell even with the transmission) and thats sort of the norm with 60 guys, or a 383 Stroker (since they're pretty Carbed and supposed to be simple).

If I wanted a manual, I'd definitely go with an NV4500, don't know what I'd get if I chose an auto (something with OD).

Then I'd need an adapter for the stock Tcase, modified GM wiring harness, new exhaust, Fan shroud, engine mounts, some sort of ECU. Boom done?
What other stuff would be necessary? Big or small.

I can get the existing 3FE/A440 out of the way pretty quickly now that we've learned how on Rusty. Psh, can't be too hard stick something else in there haha......

So yeah, not set in stone, but definitely considering it. I want some V8 POWA.

In case you haven't come across it yet, I found this dude on Pirate a year or so ago when dreaming thru an engine swap on my old 40. Some serious vortec porn to keep you drooling for a while.

Ill definitely look into it! They got some good stuff over on pirate haha. Thanks Charles

I'd go 5.3 all day. Super cheap and parts are easy to come by since it's a common swap.
Yeah, it would be nice to just walk into ANY auto parts store and they just have what I'm looking for on the shelf... Instead of Discountinued :crybaby:
