Brake lines look good. Did the junction fitting work for you?

Thanks! Were gonna find out today if the fitting works, i have a feeling it should be alright though.

Looks awesome!!!

I love those tires. I think that's what I'm going to get for my next 80. In the size I want they are about the same price as the KM2s.

Thanks Sam
It looks a whole better now! But because of a little camera mishap, all the photos came out looking like they were taken in the 1980s with a Polaroid... As of now, the only things we need to finish are the LSPV bypass brake lines, driver side knuckle rebuild, bleed the brakes, bleed the power steering/ram, drain/fill transfer case, mount the wheels and get driveshaft measurements.
We're going back today to probably finish up, but I have to go to work early again so if not today, tomorrow.

We got the steering stops in the mail a couple days ago, so we welded them on along with the ram mount and the brake hardline bracket (which needs to be cut off and another new one made then mounted a 1/2" higher on the diff)

\

After all that was finished, we were FINALLY able to paint and install, almost a week after i had wanted hahaha.

U bolted the axle to the springs and we each got to rebuilding a side. Were finally to the point were we've learned every step and memorized what to torque every nut and bolt by heart lol.

Aidan test fit the ram yesterday to ensure that it wouldn't contact anything when it extends fully and also made sure it was perfectly parallel to the tie rod. Im very glad to have such a helpful little brother ("Awww")
A couple small modifications are still needed, but then it'll be good to go!

No wheels + SUPER dusty = sad Woody

BUT NOW!

THE WHEELS ON!!!!!!!!

I sort of messed with this picture so that it wasn't so dark and I could actually see the entire truck... Its too damn dark in that barn...

Somehow we got incredibly lucky and all 4 corners are within 3/4" of each other, the only downside, the wheel wells are 44" from the ground... :bang:

Lol best buds... :slap:

Just need to figure out how to get in... :deadhorse:

Now, all thats left to do is:
1. Finish routing the Willwood proportioning valve/LSPV bypass
2. Weld on the shock towers and move rear shock mounts inward
3. Measure for new driveshafts
4. Bleed new MC and brakes
5. Fill/bleed power steering/hydro assist
6. Fill up the diffs
7. Modify the front axle brake line brackets
8. Pretty up that front sway bar
9. And now, after doing some mud research and talking with Michael at ACC, I figured out i should probably go ahead and replace the seal between the transmission and the Transfercase! I had a bunch of ATF come pouring out the companion flanges on the Tcase, so its probably a good time to just go ahead and dig in :)

So, i may not be driving it this weekend, but this week sometime FOR SURE!
...probably.

The Woody is looking awesome!! I know Sid and Ted are ready for you to get if out of the Barn, I heard them talking about all the trails they wanted you to try. :steer:

Yeah well see lol. I don't plan on becoming the new Steve while I'm driving Woody!

Today we bled the power steering stuff, measured for the driveshafts, and changed out the Tcase seal, but after bolting it all up, i went in to move from High to low range and the knob wouldn't really move (only about an inch). I believe it has to do with the orientation of the small pin that connects to the shifter linkage. Im about to consult my FSM, but figured id ask anyway.

Also swapped in different input shaft gears from Rusty's Tcase (Rusty was supposed to have an actual McNamera gear, but i guess that was the same as having longfields on both sides lol, a lie!). When i went to take out the "homemade" Mcnamera gear from Woody (which i wasn't even aware had been welded up) the welds broke and i didn't feel like going up and possibly being 1/2 spline off and ruining it.

Also made 2 HUUUUUUUGE ATF messes, that was really funny, we need a lot of kitty litter now lol... And more dexron.

Anyway, anyone have any ideas about the damn transfer case, its really beginning to annoy me.

edit; no McNamera gear

oh itll be ready! Easily by this saturday if i can go get my driveshafts dropped off on monday.

Noob tip:

Don't try to shift from H2 to L4 if the jack holding up the Tcases crossbeam isn't lifted back up all the way to the frame... It's not going to work lol.

I'm an idiot.
Had it right since yesterday, didnt know and thought it was wrong, came back today, took it apart a couple more times, still no shifty, saw that I also couldn't shift the transmission either... LIGHTBULB MOMENT!

Atleast I've done enough research and tinkering to know exactly how to take apart and reassemble a Tcase... All about those silver linings :D

some of the best lessons learned are by the dumbest maneuvers taken, ask me how i know.

It seems like I always do the same thing. Start with the most complicated thing to check and it always seems to end up being one of the simplest.

2 examples from my 22RE swap:

No start, didn't jump the pins to trick the ECM into thinking it was in neutral

No start, engine ground wire not hooked up

In both cases I was checking all kinda of stuff, thinking something was wired wrong, etc, etc, etc...

holy smokes, well done, sir. Gonna have to give you a raise!

Yep, big pain when you can't figure it out, but a good feeling after the face palm!

Thanks Charles:cheers: I wish i could get a raise or a promotion. I wouldn't have to wait so long between cruiser parts lol.

Yesterday i swapped that pesky Trans/Tcase seal because of all the ATF that was in the split case. Found a ton of ATF from the transmission inside, so i was told it would probably be a good thing to replace. I thought that that was a good idea since i figured nobody had been inside that thing since it was new, but i found evidence that that was not the case...

Those welds sure don't look factory to me lol.

Took out all that useless junk.

Didn't know I was about to burst a dam, so i made a small mess.. Yeah, I did it twice... And i ruined my freaking boots. DONT WEAR DANNERS WHILE WORKING ON CARS!!!!!

While trying to remove the "homemade" McNamera gear, the welds broke...

I knew there was an actual McNamera gear on Rusty, so i decided to dig inside there to get it out (i.e. second dam burst). Only when i got inside, there was NO Mcnamera gear lol... wonder where it went... Whatever, swapped the gears anyway.

The A440 output shaft was showing signs of wear, perhaps i will take a page out of @beno's book and swap in an H55 + brand new split case... that setup would look sexy as hell and last for-e-ver!

After finishing that, we pulled woody up the hill with the 80 and got it position next to the garage so we could weld on the shock towers and the brake line brackets.
I think they came out pretty well!

I don't really have any poser shots of the entire truck, they would've been good to get before parking in front of the garage but whatever! YALL GET TO WAIT, HA!

..but i do have these partials lol

Tomorrow i don't think ill get much work done on the truck, gotta return some tools to ACC, then drop off the driveshafts to be lengthened finally. But Wednesday, ill be back.

holy crap, I've seen some boody repairs but that one is up there. Surprised it's round much less held all this time. Good job, I'm impressed.
