I am planning for the first upgrade of my LC this summer and am deciding whether to do the 2.5 inch lift or get the sliders first.

I am looking at white knuckle offroad sliders and the old man emu heavy 2.5

Will there be issues for sliders on a stock height LC? Anyone have pics of a non-lifted truck with sliders? I am currently running 285/75/16 tires and have what seems to be pretty good clearance at stock height.

Any suggestions welcome,

Mike

You'll have no problem running sliders at stock height, and if you plan on doing any wheeling that should probably come first. Also, Metaltech just sent an email extending their sale on the OPOR sliders. That's what I've got on my truck and I'm really happy with them.

The 2.5" heavy lift will ride pretty rough if you don't have any extra weight. It rides really well with a rear bumper, spare tire and drawer system in the back! I just posted a thread though where it sagged a bit more than I was hoping fully loaded down with the kids, dog and a weeks worth of gear. I may be switching to the OME863 or 864 rear springs, so before you do anything with the lift maybe I can help you out with a set of heavy springs?

How do you guys like the fit/finish on the MetalTech sliders?

I have the OPOR on my hundy and had them on my FJC before that. Think they're awesome for the price. I didn't order them powder coated so I can't comment on the finish, but I am happy with how my rattle can paint job turned out.

My first upgrade was WKOR sliders and I love them. I also did a free torsion bar adjustment and couldn't be happier.

Sliders for sure. My WKOR sliders have been going strong for years. I'm about to pull them this summer just to put a fresh coat of powder coat on them.

I'd recommend just painting the sliders. I paid big bucks to have mine PC and have already had to touch them up a few times with rattle can. PC might look a bit prettier but I don't think it's much stronger and certainly not strong enough to take the abuse that sliders will see. So unless these are all show and no go, cheaper and easier to use a good DP and rattle can top coat.

Second the sliders. My LC came with sliders, lift and bumpers, and while that is all well and good, the lift makes the daily driving brutal at times. If I were starting from scratch, the sliders are the first thing other than new tires.

I did lift before sliders and quickly realized the lift was useless without the protection.

Sliders are cheap insurance. A lift will only allow you to access harder trails which will require sliders.

Sliders first IMHO.

You asked for a pic of this set up. Here's my 06 with 275/70/18 and MT sliders before the lift.

Sliders for sure! No lift on my truck. I made my own and am very happy w them. They have seen quite a bit of abuse!
