I would not hesitate to run the 35x10.5R16 SSR as a daily driver. Just keep the pressure up a little, they run quieter, and handle quite well.

Don't know if you can get them over there but I have a set of play tyres in that size. Simex Extreme Trekker "The Centipede" 35/10.5R16. Over here in OZ they are the competition tyre of choice for the all-terrain/winch challenge type events.

Only trouble is they are not DOT appoved. I, like many others want tall, skinny, DOT approved, and great sidewalls. Michlin Militaries are the only ones just now, and they are hens teeth.

On a daily driver? I'm looking for a narrow 35" for my DD 80 series (soon to be cummins 4bt/700r4/part time 4wd) and just can't find anything that won't shake my teeth loose on long highway trips down to Baja.

anyone running these on a DD 80 series?

cool,

seth

i run 34x 9.5 r 15 on my DD 40 and they work great

I hate to spill the beans because I really want the set that clownmidet has for sale in the for sale section, but I found a local set, but still does not beat the deal he has going.. This is the best compromize I have found.. 315 70 R 17 on a set of 17" rims. they are about a 1/2" narrower and a slightly small 35 but are a little narrower. With a BFG A/T they will be great on the road. this is what I plan to run with my 4BT FJ55.. Best, Andre

rogersfj401969,

So who manufactures the 34x 9.5 r 15 tires you referenced? I note that they are on 15" rims. Are they availavle in US?

Interco makes a 34 x 9.50 r15 swamper.

there is also a 34/10.5/15 and 16 in the form of Swamper LTB's

These are the Interco Swamper 34x10.5/15 LTB biasply tires being refered to.. I've had these four for about a year unmounted, and it seems like the price was $123. ea. through some obscure place that shipped free. I found the lowest price and the free shipping by doing a general net search.

Is anyone running 9.00 R16 on an 80? How much lift is needed to clear the 36"

I always wondered how those LTBs would work on a DD...ok, I know how they'd work for most of us.

But that has to be a pretty sweet tire in anything except deep sand on a fully loaded rig.

Here's a friend's junk with 34x10.50 LTBs. It has about a 3" lift. These tires ride about as well as a bias ply Swamper can be expected to, i.e. not that great.

I have a set of 34x10.50/15 SS LTB's on my 45 and they look sweet. I have not driven on them yet as I am still in the process of restoring it. BUt FWIW, the 34's run small, most Swampers do. A 33" BFG is larger than the 34" SS.
Hope that helps.

Is this true?
From BFG:
a 33x10.5R15 has an OD of 32.8", width 10.5"
a LT55/85R16 has an OD of 33.3", width 10"

edit:
just got the following from Interco:
34x10.50-15LT has an OD of 33.6", not sure on the tire width ?

yeah the 34 x 9.5 r 15 are the super swamper TSL by-plys i dd the truck, the run to the trail, and back. they work great

No experience with these, but Interco's Super Swamper SSR 285/75R16 (SSR-38R) is 33.9" when new . . . basically a true 34 x 9.5 with 16x8 as the recommended wheel, and it's a radial.
