This is an idea for a trailer. I copied the dimensions from an M416. This is the sketch up of the trailer.
Price for 2x2 tubing 48' is $117.20
price for 1.1 tubing 48' is $59.10

Questions
What do yall think about using 3/4" plywood for the sides and floor? It would be much less price wise and easier for me to cut and fit than sheet metal.
Comments
I plan on a leaf sprung axle

Nice SU!..

I don't know how much water the trailer will see..but I don't think it'll (the plywood) make the long haul.

If you seal all the edges, and keep it covered when not in use...it may last a couple of years.

Good luck with it

Maybe see if you can find a used boxliner on your local buy and sell and build it around that, and use the green treated plywood in 3/4" if you want to go with wood.

Otherwise steel or aluminum would be better, maybe you can buy from the metal/scrap place for cheaper or re-purpose something else.

I am not sure what a boxliner is but i am interested.

Black plastic boxliner out of a pickup truck.

Actually a pickup bed out of a junk yard would work too, but it sounds like you want to keep it looking military.

You may have look with government auctions as well for finding one already built.

OK. So I changed my mind. Decided to build an Adventure trailer copy. I can buy the side mounted tool boxes and the nose box from tractor supply and they fit just as on the drawing. The other side of the trailer is identical to the near(finished side) on the drawing. Ideas?
I am using 2x2 frame and 1x1 for the box.
I have a question about axle width. The frame is 40" wide, so the center of the spring perches is 38". How wide should the axle be? Or how do you figure that out?
I have part of the frame welded up. I will try to post some pics as I get stuff done.

Update

Started the frame this weekend. I had the hardest time with squaring up the tongue of the trailer making it square in both left and right and up and down. You will see in the pic, I used the stairs for the hay loft to help square up the tongue.
