Size of Driveshaft Bolts

So the rear driveshaft fell out of my 1962 FJ40 and cruiserdan's books only go back to 1969. I'm wondering if any of you FJ25 owners know the size of the drive shaft bolts for the year of 1962? Are they 9 or 10 mm?

Sometimes my 40 is more 25 than one might think!

I don't have the sizes, but can tell you the '62 40 is "small" and the 25 is "big" like the later 40. So on that I'm going with small = 8mm and big =10mm.

my 65s are both smaller than my 68 and newers and they're 8mm.

I post in the 40/55 forum on this. I checked my drive shaft bolts from a 62 I striped a last month. I don't have 9MM tap and die. The 8MM are just a little small. Thread looks like 1.25. I still would try to find someone who has a parts book or fishe for a pre 68 FJ40 then try to order it from Dan with the right part number I would think somebody on the board should have one. Try PMing Landcrusher909. I think he got hold of a CD with the early parts. But do it quick I think he off to the FJ45 rum this weekend

That part number is for an 11mm bolt. The "-11" in the beginning of the second half of the part number means 11mm.

the bolt is 90101-08072

washer 94512-00800

nut 94110-40800

Interesting. Those are the same part numbers as the 69-77 PTO drive shaft bolts. A good thing to remember.

The 90101-08072 is replaced by 90101-08262
94512-00800 (you missed a zero) is still a current number.
The 94110-40800 is replaced by 90170-A0001

I'll have take a couple more and check. The tap would go almost all the way thru the nut before locking up and die didn't even want to start. The nut and bolt have clean threads and go together easy so I didn't want to force the tap and die on the threads. The bolt has what looked like a 6 or a b stamped on the end anybody else have this?

I'm kicking myself for not buying at least the micro fishe for the early 40s when they were on eBay. Now that I have a couple early 40s I wish I had one

Nice to see you in the 25 section...can you get your hands on a copy of the micro fishe for the early 40's that John is talking about? We still need parts for '68s and older, and I know that the books Toyota gave you only go to '69

I had to bug Johnny and Wes for part numbers the last time I purchased stuff from you...I think I owe them both

I do not have catalogs back past 1969. March 1969 to be exact.

don't think so...although millimeters are tiny and i suck at reading the micrometer, so i just put it up against a tape measure. :shrug:

X2 Now if I find myself needing drivelines bolts I'll just check my PTO stash


Just too bad Toyota's parts books couldn't at least give you the start date for an item instead of 1969. I know my PTO parts are from FJ25 thru mid seventies and these bolts are all the same size. I'm sure during the seventies the PTO bolts were listed to an earlier date. I wonder what make 3/69 the magic date that Toyota decided anything earlier would not be supported. But you give them the part number and it still in the system maybe updated. While most parts no longer available. Some still are. I know Dan has been very helpful in finding parts if you can provide him the part number. He just has no way to get it the part numbers.

Just a FYI there are a few of us who do have the 63 FJ25 parts book.
