I'm looking for a new battery for my 93LC. My question is, do I need to have a dual battery setup if I'm going to run a ARB Fridg, or can a get away with running a single Odyssey 34R-PC1500T?

What's the best battery if I'm going to sick with a single?

A deep cycle battery is recommended for supplying electrical power to any low current constant user. Deep cycle batteries are not recommended for starting and winching. Dedicate one battery to constant voltage users.

The Odyssey 34R-PC1500T is a dual purpose battery right? Made for both deep cycle and cranking?

Odyssey pc2150 can handle a deep discharge (80 times iirc) and still work efficiently as a starting battery. Winching is also accommodated. It’s a beast and will supply a fridge. North Star has a similar AGM thin plate virgin lead design.

Northstar makes a 27F Dual purpose TPPL AGM. A lot better capacity than the 34R and fits the batt box perfect. Add a little bit of solar to keep discharge percentage down.

I'm a fan of the Odyssey products and have that battery in my truck. I have a single battery system with a variety of stuff, and it is a daily driver. I don't keep the fridge in the truck when it's on daily driving duty, but it lives in the truck when I'm on road trips or wheeling trips. They usually last 2 or 3 weeks, depending on location, and it's always on.
Obviously the load will vary depending on ambient conditions, but it's never been an issue for a week or so in the heat of summer.

The choice of single or dual batteries will depend on your intended use.

I've been Using Odyssey's for over 10 yrs My Taco has 34R in it still and it is 12 yrs old and no problems, I have a pair in my Dodge Diesel that are at least 6 yrs old, 80 got one last year to replace Yellow top that had issues. Those are just the 1's i still own. I have never drained one all the way and have it strand me. Just my $.02

I run my ARB fridge on a stock single battery it has not been an issue yet. I was thinking of upgrading to the exact battery you speak of. I did not want to go to a dual battery system for the added extra weight.

I had Diehard platinum 31m AGM dual purpose battery($319) and it died just before 2 years. It’s best to get true deep cycle battery for constant draw and starter batter for main battery. It’s also your insurance when in middle of nowhere. Right tool for the right job or you end up With what I had, which was crap.

Funny my AutoZone cheap battery used for hard winch Duty and now supplies power to my ARB fridge has had no issue. Believe me I'd like the idea of dual batteries I just don't want the added weight

I run dual yellow top Optimas, but the rig came with this setup. I do like the idea of having one battery to run gadgets and not being able to run down the starting battery. Depending on how long you are staying in one place, how hot it is, how many draws you have, etc. it is possible to drain a battery. That being said, you don't "need" dual batteries, but it sure is nice.

Second battery spot for storage. Odyssey 31R PC2105-S. S has threaded studs.

Depends on how long you will be running your fridge without starting your rig again. Most fridges like the Dometic will turn off at your described voltage loss and from all the research I've done they will run at least a weekend no problem without restarting the car. Another option would be to get something like the Jackery lithium battery which allows you to take the fridge out and still have it running. And you can use it for a ton of other things too. Cheaper than a 2nd battery option and a lot more versatile.
