Recently I tested the capabilities of a single lead acid group 27 Interstate battery and a 43Q Edgestar Fridge.

While traveling I parked the LX470 for the nite and 'someone' turned the Edgestar down to -8F. Needless to say to next morning everything in the fridge was frozen solid. Upon discovering what happen I was questioning if the LX would start seeing how the fridge more than likely ran 100% all nite. I was covered with a jump box if need but the LX started without hesitation. Not dual batteries needed for me

That really is great. And I've been told many times that if youre not winching you don't need 2 batts.
But I look at it this way, I'd rather not not beat up on the one battery ( for longevity) when I can have one for each purpose, andd maybe even tailor each to its job.

This is good news though and I can make a mental note for future reference. Interstate batteries are quality also.

So 1 night is no surprise. Even if the compressor runs full time @ 3 amps, running flat out for 12 hours would use 36 ampHours. That battery when fully charged has roughly a 90 amp hour capacity, so you would use only about 1/3 of it's capacity.

Anyway, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. Just remember that long term, using 1/3 capacity of a starting battery is not what it's designed for.

I hope you had a chat with "someone". LOL

The take away here many guys run the less efficient Edgestar fridge and question the ability to run overnight on one battery. Yes it can easily be done. True in a perfect world one should use a start/deep cycle but not everyone is set up that way. I will continue to use my lead acid 27F as I did the previous factory battery without concern having a 6 year warranty. :D

Note - The amp draw for an Edgestar is more like 5amp ;)
