There is no way that has 180k on it. Pedals and carpet are way to nice. Plus the engine would be smoking terribly. Good score right there! Does it have the elusive A/C?

Yeah I bet its only 80k too...cuz it'd take like 50 years to do 180k in them with their top speed! :p Looks like a great buy though. What's the emblem say on the drivers side that's underneath "Samurai".

Cummins Power and Cummins Recon... wishful thinking. It has symmetrical flaming skulls and one on the antennae to match.

Could you imagine how much HP that engine would have with the A/C on? It'd go from 60HP to 40HP, LOL! A/C and power steering were never an option in them. Those are part of what makes the Tracker/Sidekicks so much nicer along with much more HP. Did you know they had coil springs in 1995 in other countries? That would improve the ride quality a ton. I kinda want to build another 4 door Sidekick like I used to have.

No power steering ever on the Samurai, but a/c was an option on the tin tops. I rode in one and it was worth it, but I was amazed how slow got slower when the compressor turned on.

Another nice thing about trackers, you could fit two people side by side and there shoulders didn't touch ;)

When are you putting a VW diesel in this thing??

More Samurai Slutting scenery

Head pic: missing on bugle head screw and 3 of the front 4 remaining were loose.
Bearing- well spun but present, unlike the one in the 2002 Corolla I took apart earlier today. Spunday Monday..

I'm thinking the oil puked out the valve rocker tube, pressure dropped and the CR #3 lost oil flow. Cylinder wall condition TBD. Motor had a bunch of oil all over including around the timing belt. I think the rings are toast in #3, resulting in blow by, blowing out oil etc, rod knock was obvious. Next, pull the head..

OK- so the cylinders are a bit shiny, not much of a ring ridge, no scoring and a burnt valve on #3. Head gasket looked kind of rotten but aside from chunks of metal in the pan there was very little water. I did notice steam when I popped the pan and some slime in the front timing cover which was oil-soaked and the belt looked like it had wandered around, rubbing on the cover down low. Do the timing gears get worn?

Cam gear/pulley wear? Never seen it in a Suzuki, but you never know. Most I have seen it is gold coating worn where the belt rides. The oil soaked timing belt and worn cover is completely normal though. Along with the toasted rings... Easy to work on little rigs though!

I guess I'm used to machined not stamped gears.. I think that is what it is. I got TK's old block, the crank looks good. I might do some measuring or take the block to a machinist to see if I can get away with a re-ring.. Guy called with a "rebuilt" motor for $275 via my Cl ad.. I'm not sure what the official definition of rebuild is but that isn't a bad price seeing as gasket/ring/bearing kits aren't far from that..
Its kind of cool to be able to pick up a block and put it on the table.. 2f or 1fz-fe block is a little heavier.

Can anyone recommend a good transmission shop? I got a lady needing a rebuild on a 99 Acura CL v6 transmission. I don't want the work and she's kinda high maintenance. Trans needs to be taken out, rebuilt and reinstalled. The Honda v6 transmissions are notoriously bad at eating themselves. This one only has 109k on it.
