I think I want to build a "tear drop" type camper out of VW bug.

Have I lost my mind?

J, find this...

I read one article that said the snow cruiser was still there and I read another that said it was on a ice shelf that broke off and floated off to sea. Jerod, I'm gonna need you to find it and take some pictures.
Ty, do eet! My dad used to manufacture teardrop trailers before he moved to Florida. My sister has the last one he made at her place in central point, I think he made around 40 total. I've pondered making an off road version. They are convenient and compact.

It depends on how far from the ice edge they abandoned it.... I read a book that referenced a ship sighting an iceberg with a hut sticking out of the side of it back in the 1970's. Richard Byrd built his bases on the ice shelf near Roosevelt Island in the 20's, 30's and 40's.

Was on my way to a build based on this but...the 'handbrake' wanted to be able to stand up inside so the 2" tube for the frame sits on the garage floor.:(
Only other issue I saw was the total weight. Well over 1000lbs. Awesome rig though.

Just build it a little taller. An aluminum frame with honeycomb aluminum panels and you could keep it light and roomy- just put something heavy in it so it doesn't blow away!

Just thought I'd show what I was working on this week. Kinda odd to see the two cars back to back. 59 El Camino, saw a "wanted" ad on Craigslist one day and I sent the guy an email. I had seen the car around, turned out he lives almost across the street from me. We got to talking and he wanted me to replace his floor pans...got the two rears done and once we tore up the front carpet it turns out I'm doing the front pans too. His 59 is almost bone stock. Straight 6, three on the tree, 4 wheel drums, bias plys and no power steering. Pretty cool though, I've got it on jack stands in the picture which is why its sitting so high.

I'll take a 69 over a '59! Those 59's were built the year I was born. Used to see them and others all over the place growing up but these days there are probably very few that have not been "recycled". Nice work.

So when are you going to have your own reality show?

Nice ride! Its a car, its a truck, its a wagon its a cartructionagon!!!
