I have checked the mileage of my cruiser and happily discovered that the mileage is running 16 to 17.5 mpg for me..

It is almost all highway with very little town ... I drive the route ever day and know that the odometer is correct...

With what I've read here and other places, 14 mpg should be the case ..

Anybody else checked their highway mileage and got these results ?

Thanks

I was getting 16-17 highway prior to swapping tires. Now I am lucky to get 15.

I get consistently between 14-15mpg, mixed (75%C/25%H), with my stock '99.

I've actually never checked mine. I'm afraid.

On average so far, I only put less than 7000 a year on it.

Bought it new in 02, and i just turned over 20k.

Didn't buy it for mileage, but if and when I move out of the city, I'll have to think about the commuter mobile.

I get 13.5 mpg EVERY tank...Its 50/50% highway/city mixed ...it is, however... mostly pedal to the metal type driving.

I have never gotten 15mpg or more...I guess I should slow down...NAH !!
:D

not sure what my city mpg is but on the hwy doing 70mph, I get 17mpg, that is with a correction for tire size. Makes me happy and also makes the 100 the best milage of any of my cruisers.......and its the heaviest, most powerfull and biggest motor :)

My latest averaging is at about 17mpg as well, corrected slightly for the 285's effect on the odo. Wife has been driving it lately and she has a much smaller but somehow heavier foot than I.

Damn I guess I have a lead foot when I exclusively on the highway, I get exactly 15.6667 MPG. Normal to and from places local (mix) it is about 14.5......I have never gotten close to 17 on the highway. :(

Highway driving long-distance: about 17 mpg

Either my cruiser is in desparate need of a tune-up, or you guys drive like my grandma. I get 12, maybe 13 mpg... (I guess it is mostly city/suburban driving).

Hey watch it...my Grandma is Shirley Muldowney :flipoff2:

Traveling at 80 MPH on the interstate, 16.3 MPG is very consistent. This is burning 91 octane or better. A few months back, I was forced to follow a business associate for 250 miles that only drove 55-60 MPH on the interstate. My mileage jumped to around 18 MPG. If gas prices keep climbing, perhaps Toyota will offer an electronic control module that allows four cylinders to be shut-off at the flick of a switch.

Cadilac had a car that did that, cut back from 8-6-4..........it was a HUGE turd :D

but oddly I was thinking the same exacty thing today........how wierd ;)

I am just happy with anything over 15mpg......

I think the 4 sp (98-99) vs the 5 sp (00? and up) makes a difference, In city /suburban driving in my 98 w/4sp I make 13.5 to 14mpg.
Best I've seen in hwy is 15.5 traveling at 70-75 mph.

The 5sp auto came in '03

I'm getting around 13.. with mostly city driving. This is with a K&N panel filter. I'm wanting the borla cat-back to help out on the mpg.

Its sad that the supra makes triple the power, also gets about double the mileage.

I think the Borla and K&N improved my mileage by .0000000001 mpg. ;p
