For as long as i can remember the cruiser has had a pretty nasty side to side vibration at highway speeds. pretty noticable from 65-80. any ideas? you can see/feel it in the seats and it visible in the dash board, the whole thing moves side to side.

Thanks, B

check tires and rims first for balance...do it when they're hot.

Tires are brand new. got them two weeks ago, it did this before with the original ltx's.

If the new tires did not change things it is likely that something else is either loose or out of balance.

Possible causes:

Drive shaft(s)
Wheel bearings
Transfer case
Wheel(s)
Steering linkage
Engine mounts
Body mounts

Ok so im getting ready to take the 80 on a short trip next weekend, taking the truck in monday to see if they can find anything. I noticed the shimmy does get worse with time and spend, im guessing that means it gets worse with heat as well.

I was going really slow on a nice smooth surface and i can almost feel it at like 5mph, im think its related with the tires/wheels.
Also, if it helps, the shimmy seems to come in intervals, like every 2 or 3 second for about 2 seconds at a time.
Just wasnt sure if that would help at all. i will tell the shopm to start with wheels, then drive shfts, etc. etc.

Thanks, Brandon
