So what does everyone use when replacing side marker lights?

The hard rubber "frame" is all shot.

I can't imagine that getting another 25 year old set of a rig that someone is parting out will be in that much better shape.

Is there any specific aftermarket brand/model that others have used that work well.

Obviously I have not made a trip to the local parts store to see what they have on the shelf.

I'm sure I can get new from my friendly dealer parts person, however, I think that will be a little expensive.

Thanks in advance!

get some from the rear...

...and put'em up front. I bet hardly a soul has seen the rear ones get all old and cracky...they fit fine - just put in the yellow lenses and call it a day. they will stick out just a tad more than the 'regular' ones.

The side markers from overseas are much better than what we got here. They actually have the rubber gasket around them like the rear markers and not the crappy plastic gasket. TLC4x4 has the overseas markers from time to time. Check with them.

I got new from CDan and they weren't TOO $$$. 20'ish ea IIRC. I then swapped in some 5 LED bulbs (no heat so doesn't help bake them to smithereens) - should last another 20+ years now. No cutting and looks great stock.

Rig of Mortis has a thread w/ some he got from a truck stop that fit stock location and already have LEDs. See if you can find via search posted by ROM.

I found a new set of those overseas ones, and yes they have the nice thick rubber gasket like the back ones.
They were 24V so i only had to change the bulbs to 12V but they plug right into the U.S. harness.

I also got some new ones from Toyota a few years ago and they were very reasonably.

find one being parted out for used rear markers

I bet theres a few being parted out or you could pick them up for like $10 from cruiserparts.net or other used parts folks.

the biggest issue (especially with the fronts) is age and heat (and age!). They get brittle and a lot of 60's have the marker with the light sitting in the front quarter panel.

For an extra 15$ i'd get new OEM - obviously it's twice the price, but i'd hate to pay 10$ and a year later need to replace...

CCOT, C-Dan, The local Toyota dealer. Pilot truck stops do have a very close replacement in red & amber. Replacements are easy to find in lots of places. Check the classifieds too.
