@Yeti80 have you got any more pics of this rig? I have my eyes on a clean '02 white 100, and love this setup. Feel free to PM me!

+1 on the book for Colorado trails, it has been a great reference.

We ran Pearl Pass solo a few years back on 33s. There were some rough spots but no crazy exposures right up on the edge from what I recall with exception of one on the Aspen side on the way down, an off kilter step with a 70 ish foot drop off the side if you rolled. There was a new Jeep Grand Cherokee in front of us that somehow made it the whole way through though almost went over on the off kilter section, he cut one tire and took on some damage while doing it.

All in all a fun trail, wasn’t very busy. But rough though, lots of boulders.

@ClassyJalopy I left Lakeview Campground near Taylor park reservoir and did Taylor Pass (5 level of difficulty IMO, some decent boulders, but I have seen guys pull overland trailers through there) then did Pearl Pass southbound after that which was a bit harder but not crazy. I could have done it without the front locker. The detour to Montezuma Basin was pretty cool out and back, and not too difficult with great views. I have seen guys pull overland trailers through there. There was one steep section that when wet you'll need a front locker but dry no problem. If you do any trail building or rock stacking to get through there, just clear it out when you pass. Not sketchy just slick when wet. Smooth sailing after that the rest of the way up to Pearl Pass. Bit of mud on the way back down the back side from the snow melt and a few water crossings ... some technical sections that are moderate rock sections you couldn't do in a Suburu most likely. I would have no issues (as long as it's open) running it again solo or with a group. Was a fun trail.

Did you have a look at the C load KO2s?
Only 65lbs and 36.5" tall. Basically the same weight as my 35 MTs now.

It could work.... 🤔

I have, tempting! I feel like I could figure out a way to make them fit everywhere except in the factory spare location. I'm dead set on keeping the spare there. A 35 fits easily with the hitch out of the way.

I really was expecting to have to do a lot more work to make these fit. I'm kinda regretting not going to a 12.50".

I've never done a single mod that transformed a vehicle so much as going to 35" tires. All the sudden this thing is super fun to drive, it just rolls over everything. I bet there will be a lot more 35-37" tires coming out in the next few years...

Loving this thread, these beasts look proper on 35's!!!

I wish mine could fit in the stock spare location with ARB bumper :(
Could you please take a picture of the spare 35" in stock spot?

Couple quick garage pics.

Factory spare tire crossmember, not yet raised. These 11.50’s spec at 11.4” wide while the 285/70 KO2’s I had on previously spec at 11.5” wide. I did measure them both and the 11.5’s are indeed narrower but the difference was negligible, maybe 1/16” at best. It looks like it hangs down a lot but that’s mainly because the hitch isn’t blocking your view. With the 1/2” BL I’ve got enough room to raise the spare about 25-30mm before I run into clearance issues with the evap canister, if I move the canister I think I can go a lot higher.

The larger diameter does push the bulk of the tire rearward a bit, sacrificing some departure angle. It does slide up there easier than my old 33’s though, absolutely no fuss at all with the hitch gone.

I didn’t know you can fit 35s in the factory spare tire location. That’s awesome.
