Guy's I have a 76 40 and have a short on the tail light circuit. WHen I turn my interior lights on by rotating the headlight switch the fuse blows. I have taken out the Switch and rebuilt it.
The switch doesent have any shorts in it. I ohmed it out. I've looked for this short everywhere that the wiring diagram said is on that circuit. It even does it with the gauge pod un hooked. Any advise on where to look next or what to check?

Since it only blows with the switch on, the short is down stream (toward the lights) from the switch. You have to check all the lamp housings and wires.

mine dosent have a hard top. Is there a wire that goes up the windshield frame and to a dome light? The only other light is the dash light right?

On my 76 the interior "dome" light was switched at the light (above the driver on the "b" pillar.) I would imagine your problem is a short at one of the connections/bulbs.

Only other light on that circuit is the dash pad right?
