Currently trying to decide which shocks to buy for my 80. Here is how it is setup.

OME 420 front coils with a 1" spacer
OME 423 Rear coils
Lift measure out to be approximately 5.25"
OME Nitrocharger shocks (worn out...like really worn out)
Minimal rear bumper ( approximately 45 lbs)
Front bumper is a Coastal offroad with a Warn M8000 with synthetic rope (approximately 125 - 130 lbs)
Spare (37" Toyo MT with steel wheel) is in the rear cargo area with a BellFab mount
Metal tray bolted to the floor with a Pelican case and a extra large ammo can (50 lbs )
No rear sway bar
Delta front Radius arms (5L's)
Delta rear trackbar bracket
37" Toyo MT's on 17x8 Allied steel beadlocks

I do not plan on carrying a ton of gear in the back, maybe an additional 150 lbs max with tools/spare fluids/etc... when out wheeling. It won't be an overlanding rig...after 20 years in the Marines (Infantry) I have zero desire o go camping...lol.
I have no idea how old the shocks are but I can compress three of the four by hand and they have very minimal rebound when compressed. Currently, the rig rides pretty smooth and I would like to keep it that way. I have read a bunch of threads that cover shocks but a lot of them are several years old. I talked to the guys at Down South Motorsports and they suggest Radflo's...Accutune recommends Kings. It seems FOX doesn't currently make a shock for an 80 with 5" of lift. I have read alot of negative reviews of the OME nitrocharger shocks and I have read where some people are giving the nod to either Icons or Dobinsons, but again some of that info is several years old. Given the current options, who has a recommendation for a particular shock and what is the reason why you favor this shock?

For best fitment, flex the truck out and work out compressed shock length (allow an inch or so for bump stop compression) and get the longest shock you can with that compressed length. If you're not going something like a custom valved king or fox, go dobinsons.

The dobinsons would be a good plug n play option as long as your not hitting whoops, they seem to do fine with general street driving/ baby head size rocks. If you wanna get silly with it, have accutune tune two sets of front 6” fox 2.5s with DSCs. It’s a 11.5” travel shock with a pin top, they should be able to get it to work well if you weigh the truck and fill out one of their shock forms. The part numbers FOX-883-26-093.

Did the Fox 2.0 reservoirs from DSM years back. They custom valved them for my guesstimated weight. Would probably go with Radflos or larger body Foxes if I have to replace them.

I thinkni had them on my ome 5" lift. It rode nice i thought.
All the setups I've seen the shock is basically a limiting strap which doesn't do well for durability if you use it as that. Have got BP51s on a couple of work utes and they've been excellent, but they all drive basically 100% on road.

Call Ben at Filthy Motorsports if you want Kings. He has an 80 himself. They can valve them too to your Cruiser.

I am dumping my BP51s right now and going to Kings.

Cheers

I appreciate everyone's input. After more research and talking to some reps, I decided to go with the Slee remote resi shocks (built by ADS shocks). These seem to be the best option for what I need for my rig.
