remember boys and girls, springs set ride height, shocks control ride... don't make me set RideTech on you... just believe me. whew.

stop putting words in my mouth

Ironically I'm in insurance... I'm also not on the defensive, for once... again, believeit or not, I don't always listen to the "pro" suggestions, and it has served me quite well.

I'm not trying to win or lose here... just making a suggestion to looking into using your front JK springs when you had it setup for the rear originally, and that there's more to springs than just ride height.

The think its all good as long as we remember this is our hobby. SBG has proven time and again that if something didn't work out he came up with a better idea. If the springs don't end up working he will find ones that do. If the basket doesn't work out he will find a better solution. It's all good. I have seen his work in person and it is way better than I could do. We also need to remeber that none of these are factory or off the shelf parts. No single part can be ordered up that is a perfect piece. It takes lots of trial and error. This is especially true when you go with more exotic designs. It will work out.

Absolutely agree, haven't meant to state otherwise.

Only reason I mentioned the roll bar stuff is... there are definitely times to skimp on price and i do it all the time... however, especially since I see medical claims... (and I'm getting older, a little wiser, more responsible, and a father)... safety equipment isn't the time to save a few bucks.

I was actually listening to both side of this particular debate. I need some padding up next to my head. I cheap out on lots of stuff, but the cost of 3 feet of certified padding is negligible. Having come from the aviation industry I know that a lot of the price you pay for "certified" stuff is all about the liability insurance. You don't necessarily get a better product. I am leaning in that direction, though. Going to see if the local speed shop has any to fit 2" roll bars. Otherwise Amazon it is.

fine - in the general forum, you can argue like Mace; here, you get a question and an answer. You have an opinion, great, go to the general forum and tell the world I'm an idiot... I frankly don't care because I never go there... but here, let's play out that lawyer line. You tell me I win because I'm a lawyer, I tell you I won because I'm right - which is the same thing as being a lawyer.... and really, I'm an ambulance chasing lawyer who has the audacity to take a drunk's house after he put my client in a wheelchair. His defense was priceless, well actually it cost him his house... he said that she didn't deserve any pain and suffering money because she was on welfare (she wasn't).... that's my day, this is what I do to unwind and I have no tolerance for people who put words in my mouth.... don't like it? don't care. I'm not paid to do this, and will stop posting if it results in more aggravation then that drunk.

And how do I tell Steve that his craftsmanship on his spare tire carrier leaves much to be desired? :(

beside the box fiasco, I swapped springs on the rear

nice and level now at fighting weight

boxes

we know that story

as I raised the suspension I checked the alignment.... all good

I don't get how I could build in the LC lean, but somehow I did

and stripped what will be the half doors

stripped

Installed the monkey

and worked on the fenders

It wasn't the welds that failed, it was the 1" diameter spindle that sheared from the constant forward/rearward movement that I was talking about on a previous post. Here is a picture showing the sheared spindle against the new 1.5" diameter one.

remind me how this came up... oh yeah, spare tire bouncing down the road... lol
