Yep, pretty typical. Only this is my only wheeling weekend between now and July 5th. Supposed to be mid 70's this weekend. On this side of the mountain. Probably a bit hotter on the other side. Trying to get my son to come over to Liberty with us.

Working on an Evans Creek trip for Saturday.

My last trip I came home with road rash. All the berry canes were choking the trails and I only had my half doors. Maybe I will leave my top and door on for this weekend...

old pump, new pump

new pump with new pickup welded

ready to install

installed

tailgate straps... great idea, doesn't work

still trying to figure out what to do about lights

back to work on the tire carrier

note the load and the space saver spare?

hmmm, I built this for something else but it may work pretty well as a shelf

yes, the tire size is different.... but since the only time I'd ever use a spare is if I shredded a tire so badly that I couldn't put a tube in it or trail repair it; it'll be okay. That and I don't have a 38.5 spare and I'm not buying a new one because the tires are going to change when I wear them out.

Yay, the representative oil pan again.

You know, you could save some wear and tear on your camera by reposting the same picture a few times.

more work accomplished

I have a TRE reamer, and put it to good use for the perfect fit

so I probably will have a 33" or 35" spare (maybe 37)... there's little point to carrying a full size spare because of the way the lockers work - the spare always has to be on the front, but even if it is, unlocking that hub will still give me 3 wheel drive to get to a tire shop....

this is important because the final size isn't going to be this size nor will they be bias ply tires.... or non-locking rims...

I also plan on designing/building my own locking rim...

So it's supposed to be lightning, rain, and I have no top so I needed to do a drive then 4x4 light to do a brief test
Oh yeah, and there's also this - there were some on Pirate who said "stupidest build ever" (that would be a moderator who said that) "will never finish it" "will never drive on the freeway" "will flip over because the wheelbase is too short" "he knows race cars but doesn't know 4x4s" and, one of my personal favorites "well, everyone knows how to do this" (which is an amazing admission of their own).
So thank you Bangshift, thank you Hummer4x4offroad, and even thank you everyone except Mace (but I'll forgive him if he finds me those 4.56 axles for $300) on IH8Mud. You all prove that not being the biggest jerk on the web means that you're some of the nicest people. Enjoy the 100k plus views and my thanks for hosting.
(look at the trees for angle reference)

and for those who wonder why Instant Center (IC) is important, this one climbs this hill - my Hummer can't (even though it has a longer wheelbase and full lockers too)

To the hosts, my next goal is a million views....

Oh yes, and oil pressure is 40 psi minimum warm... mark that fixed.

now the list:
air lockers, at least one for the rear
4:1 gears in the transfer case - I thought 3:1 would be fine, but without granny gear... there is no crawl (which also isn't something we do a lot of here in the PNW - at least not crawl in the s.cal or moab sense of the word)
bead locks
finish the top

potentials, though I'm still not convinced
hydro-assist

IT LIIIIIIIIVVVEEEESSSS

Yay on not rolling down that hill :p

Awesome to hear about your oil pressure. It had me scratching my head. You would not think new high quality brands like Melling would have two bad ones like that.

So are you done yet?

Oh and hey, Sunday plans? Same idea as before? Meet somewhere in the ghost town? I better not get slimed!

Yep, I've told Don that I'm meeting him around 8 am* at the trailhead. Have you ever eaten at the cafe in Easton? It's pretty decent, how about meeting there at 7 am?

*an agreed 8 am with Don means somewhere around 9 - but I live for pulling up to his tent and laying on the horn, so we're aiming for before 9 am at the entrance.

I had to Google Easton. I had never heard of it before. I always pass it by and stop in Cle Elum to gas up and eat. Easton sounds great. 7am works for me. It may be a chore to get my son awake so he may or may not be coming.

it's a cute cafe, nothing terribly special but the food is good and the sarcasm starts early. you have no idea the temptation to take the '40. For certain, the week after the Rally; we're taking it out on the maiden run. I don't think it will have trouble, but it has clunks that I need to determine whether or not they're normal clunks or something that should be fixed.

I hate saying this, but I think I'm going to have to have a chat with Novak about their adapter - the speedo sensor seems to not be the only issue; it's got a small leak that doesn't seem to be coming from a standard location... they're a 1st class company so I'm sure whatever it is, they will fix it.

So I spent a lot of time getting stuff out for camping this weekend, but there was progress on the toyota front
the news is I gave up on bearings

1" axle with 1 1/4" dom tube and a bit of boring and it works well

and now I don't think I'll worry so much about it falling off

high lift jack plan, fuel plan - though on that side I'm building shelves that I can put whatever on and attach ax, shovel, etc.

I'm building a stainless tank for inside for water....
