If I am not able to keep my engine's temps in line my next mod will be an oil cooler. Already started researching the adapter and such.

I have most of the bits for an oil cooler - I didn't add it before because I didn't think I had the room.... I think there is enough room for the one I've planned... we'll see, I'm driving it today - wish me luck

so have you figured out how to get the 23rd through the 25th off? many trails will be run at Liberty.

Also, I need to get over there either Sat. or Sun and do a prerun... though that will likely be in the H3 because I'm a whimp and I like A/C.

23rd and 24th no, 25th maybe. I told my boss I would not work that weekend and then she started pleading. We shall see. The 18th I am off for sure and am going on a trail run no matter what. Rain, snow, sun, don't matter. Rain or snow is even better, but not likely :)

I'd really appreciate the help running the trail on Saturday - I'm leading a group Friday and Sat. Friday, I'll have some folks from Nitro gear but on Sat., I need volunteers (to come out and 4x4 ;-0)

you said you have Sundays? we have two before the Rally ;) and I drove my '40 to work.... I still need to figure out why it's not going down to slow idle (but it did try to do so before the motor blew up so it's probably something simple)... which might also be the reason it's warm (if it's running rich).

Correct, I am not working on Sundays. Church only when able. I have been skipping a lot lately because of our pastor politics. I can definitely get out on Sundays, but will want to be home by 6ish if possible.

My fingers are crossed that I will be done working by noon tomorrow. Of course now that I say that...

and I fixed my rear axle leaks! yay. Friday was an adventure (the gas gauge no longer works and fails in the mostly full position), I drove more than 100 miles in the '40, but the rear has been leaking from both axle flanges. I stopped by the shop of the guy who set up the front axle and he said that it was probably bent or stretched bolts... bent or stretched grade 8, 1/2" bolts?!!! but as I know him and he knows axles, I simply bought some new bolts and lock washers.... and violin, (or viola) no leak....

I knew that there was an oil issue with using the a/c compressor - which is why there's the oil separator in the system. I'm not sure a drain back is necessary - but we'll see. One thing, I was curious before I did the tube to see how much blow-by there was in the compressor so I pulled the plug on the top.... there's very little, so it's possible that the excess oil I got initially was because it sat for so long and it really won't oil that much once all the rings seat again.... I think in the end, I'm going to put a real air compressor on it with the clutch system.... but for now, this is fine.

what a stand-up company. I called Melling this morning to try to figure out why I'm having such trouble with oil pressure. They're replacing both pumps for free. I don't think that oil pressure was the only issue with the first block (I blame the failed oil sensor), so I don't want nor think I deserve that motor replaced - but it is really nice of them to replace both pumps and want these pumps back so they can test them.

two thumbs up for Melling.

so I have like 21 pictures, but it's pointless to post all of them so you get maybe 3.... I finished the hitch

and took the doors apart - and this where there's a bunch of pictures to help me reassemble them (of course, it'd be nice to have a picture of where I put the small parts from the rear door disassembly...ugh)
but still, here

and stripped... notice the burn marks? it took every tool to get some of the screws out including heat and a grinder.... some rethreading will happen later

anyway, off to the sand blaster - but that won't be until next week... between now and then will be an oil pump install and some aircraft stripper for the fiberglass roof.
