Do you guys use an online shipping costs calculator? If so which one? I have used the one for UPS and I get absolutely ridiculous estimates.

I use UPS and have account that saves you 20-30% but once I go on a tangent selling parts again I'm gonna get a FedEx account as everyone claims they are cheaper.

Shipping cost kills deals all the time for me. Sucks when you spend all that time packaging for a quote but it's part of the game.

Yep...back and forth back and forth....And when I want to buy something the shipping can be almost 50% of the part

Flat rate USPS small and medium boxes are 99% the cheapest for that size. Once you go large flat rate it's usually a tad higher than FedEx ground with an account.

Ups is the worst

FedEx ground is always cheaper and open an account to save 5%

Fastenal is very reasonable for all large or heavy heavy stuff.

As far as calculator online for FedEx and UPS it's usually pretty close give or take a little. Must do specific dims and weight. Some times its like 10 bucks different at most than the actual cost but that can be in either direction(more or less).

Same here on UPS. It was 20% higher when I actually took it in today and I factored a heavier package

I agree, Greyhound & Fastenal for the heavy or big stuff. I haven't used ForwarAir for years, but rates were reasonable last time I used them.

It varies by region and size. Fed Ex sucks in Idaho. Very expensive, poor service, and lots of claims. I hate shipping stuff East because it is crazy. Pretty much as soon as it crosses the Mississippi it goes nuts. Shipping cost 50% of the part, that is nothing. I feel bad when people pay more in shipping than they do for the part. I use UPS for anything does not fit in small or medium USPS flat rate boxes. Sometimes I use the large ones. That is the best value for heavier small parts. If you do a lot get an account. That can save you 20-30%.

The best is using a USPS Flat Rate box for very heavy stuff - to the point you can barely carry it. It costs the same as it would if it were filled with feathers... kinda feels like cheating.

When I was selling a lot of motorcycle parts, I'd check ups/fedex/usps for prices. Sometimes one was cheaper then the other, other times it was opposite.

Never feel bad about it. I send a lot of light USPS Priority boxes just because then I don't have to go to the Post Office.

Hi, I rarely ship USPS because it arrives broke ,bent, late, or not at all. Mike

Forward Air has worked for me on multiple occasions, mainly transmissions/transfer cases & combos.
