Yeah but the land cruiser is far cooler, I mean, rear vent windows (why the Jeep doesn't have these I don't know), an actually folding windshield, I mean the list goes on. I do like the jeep color but maybe try painting the land cruiser color with metalflake? I'd have to see it before I made that leap.

No, I want flat, but shiny. I would have gone with olive drab, but it is too DIY looking and overdone. A 60 surely was available in several metalflake colors, but that color was never one of them, nor was that color every done in metalflake in a 40-series. I'm going with a traditional period-appropriate (sorta) Cruiser color, just on a model it was never sprayed on.

I say paint it that color the 40 is. That'll look great on a 6x.

Good luck man!

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out...

I bought all my supplies today. $363. Yikes. Not including the $250 or so I spent on the compressor, gun and accessories.

This is gonna be fun.

I'll post up a full list of what I got, with prices and possibly pictures.

The place, Ben's Paint Supply, was SUPER friendly, took pity on me, given that this is my first time, spoon fed me all the knowledge I will need, and their most veteran paint person offered to come to my house one evening and help me when it is time to spray. She worked in a paint and body shop for 22 years, but her back made her take a job where she could sit more. Her name, I swear, is Carousel. You know I'll take photos of that when the day comes...

I know. The learning curve was steep, but I got it now. I have an in-line dessicant with disposable cartridge, an inline filter/lube /pressure regulator unit, an automatic tank drain, and other accessories. The Harbor Freight bill alone set me back $275. My wife has been giving me the hairy eyeball ever since I decided to go paint supply shopping. Just wait until I start buying air tools!

My tool collection has blossomed since I was first bitten by the Cruiser bug. I consider it a major fringe benefit.

Wrenching/fiddling/fabbing is meditative, as Pirsig made famous.

Bypass the oiling feature when you are painting.

There is a trick to getting the water to condense into the drier; cut your hose so that you can coil some length into a bucket of cool water after the compressor, then place the drier in line after the cool bucket. The water will condense the humidity and it will be caught better in the drier.

Uh, yeah, I figured... The oiler will be used ONLY with air tools which I do not yet even own.

Interesting.

I forgot to post these up. Nothing big, but items on the list checked off...

Enjoy the exhaust smell..

make sure you aren't exhausting directly onto your shock or especially axle, heats it up and causes premature wear/failure.

Nice build by the way. Sweet rig.
