I was trying to diagnose a 55mph acceleration only rumble and pulled the front drive shaft. When reassembling I felt the last of the 8 nuts let go. Are there any options other than splitting the TC and pulling the shaft? I measured 8.5mm gap on the back side, it seems doable but sketchy to try putting a nut back there. There is a 100 at the local you-pick that I might be able to scavenge parts from.

Truck has been down for 3 weeks waiting on parts for another issue that I just sorted. After reading some threads on pulling the shaft I am supper depressed.

can you slide a nut between the flange and transfer and tighten it with an about 1 inch or so long bolt?

That is about my plan, "get'er done" and all. I would do it in a second on a piece of equipment, but this is a family hauler so I am hesitating. I am kind of looking for someone to say that is a horrible idea.
  1. Find highest grade M10 bolt that i can
  2. Cut bolt to length, grind nut down to 7-8mm to fit gap
  3. Hope I dont mess the balance up too much.
