Not sure anyone cares, and it’s not intended to be a passive-aggressive “come buy it” post, but thought I’d share with the community that I’ve been with for 20 years, my thoughts

May 1 I got a call that an Earth OT+ was available at msrp if I wanted it. TBH, I wasn’t jazzed for the color but I knew there was a lot of hype and demand at that time. Additionally there was a “port hold” of some sort, so the inflow would be constricted. Also, the LCs hadn’t started to hit dealer lots. I had just sold my 80 and camping season was upcoming, so I jumped on it

I’ve driven about 6500 miles and found it to be super comfortable. A couple of trips and even a run up to Glacier National Park. Really no complaints other than the color

I looked into vinyl wraps. I looked into colored PPF. But there were a lot of trade offs going either route

I browsed a couple dealer websites this week and saw a white on coming in. I reached out to the dealer and they said it was sold but they wanted my GX. Long story short they offered me MSRP ($83k) and a deal any way I wanted - cash now, trade on something on the lot, or trade in on a future GX in an unknown timeframe

So I plan to just sell it back to them and see what comes next. I really like the heritage blue over java brown Land Cruisers. Maybe I go that route

Thanks for reading my blog 😂

I’m in the same boat…. Ordered silver OT+. My dealer called and said they had an exact match to my order coming in but white. I took it, and I’m bummed that I did. The good news, my wife wanted white so I can live with it. If anyone wants to trade let me know!!

Very cool for you that the dealer is working with you. Seams pretty generous to me. I hope you end up with what you want.

It still amazes me that certain used vehicles are still getting wholesale values at original MSRP. It's wild.
You can’t get the sale taxes back, on a 83k purchase it’s about 7k

Just pay $49 and setup an LLC with an registered agent 😜

That's called Tax evasion if you don't live in Montana. 🤷‍♂️

I have looked into this but not for the purpose of avoiding taxes. But to get grey market Vehicles registered that can't be registered in some states.
But my risk tolerance is not up to it. ;)

Or AZ, right? Maybe OR too. I need to move to one of those places.
Let me know how that works out for you as OR pays one the highest property taxes to make up for it. Bottom line the money has to come from somewhere.
AZ has sales tax.

I pick up my heritage blue with java on Saturday can't wait.

Jelly!!

sounds like you're in a great position to get what you really want, post up pictures when you pull the trigger!

I tried holding out for a traildust/java. Ended up taking a black interior as everything else was right. Just paid for my plates in Colorado today. Thankfully our property taxes are low as vehicle registration not so much.

Dealership took the GX yesterday and I have a heritage blue over brown Land Cruiser coming in a couple weeks. Plus, I’m flying to the great white north next week to check out a 40!

Any particular reason besides color preferences that you've decided to go with the Land Cruiser now instead of waiting for another GX? It will be interesting to hear the comparison from owning both.

Not a fan of the fender and hood area, along with the front. Just a “chunky” design I don’t care for

I prefer physical buttons inside

In town mpg should be better with the LC?

Better aftermarket support so far, and I expect long term

Physical buttons were part of our decision as well but the rear HVAC setup was actually the real sticking point on the GX. We have dogs that ride in the very back and I dont understand why Lexus omitted the rear HVAC controls as well as the roof vents on the Overtrail/Plus models.

Good reminder - I like those vents for the dogs AND me when we camp in the back! Didn’t have those on the OT+

Buttons and MPG were the two deciding factors for me. Styling inside and out sealed the deal.

I drove a 550 for a little bit and was shocked that the massage seat function was a whopping 8 menus deep when you're in android auto (and presumably car play). EIGHT TAPS on the screen to go from navigation to seat massage.

Screens in cars are bad enough, but if everything is 2 taps away, it's manageable. If Toyota/Lexus are going to go the path of screens, they need some tutelage from Tesla or something.

Other than the UI being a little clunky, that was a wonderful car.
