I bought the 60 last month. All I've done is give it a once over, have my mechanic make sure it was good to go, clean it up a little, and now I'm ready to let it go.
I really could not believe how well it was set up. The former owner said he's the 2nd owner and he didn't get a whole lot of info from the young woman he bought it from a few years back. Checking it out, whoever did the upgrades really knew what they were doing and spared no expense. Here's the details:
177,000 original miles
Head was professionally rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago
Duel battery setup
GMC alternator setup
Correctly installed kill switch
H55 five speed transmission
OEM cable locking full-floater differentials front & rear
Custom Off-road fabricated transfer case armor
All new OEM tie-rods & tie-rod ends
Wagongear tailgate storage
Internal roll cage
Completely reupholstered front & rear seats
New Kenwood KDC-BT838 HD stereo
OEM electric antenna from an FJ62
Polk audio speakers front & rear
Custom fitted waterproof floor mats
Dash cover with no cracks
Tuffy center console
Magnum 257 import CB radio
ARB roof rack with front wind deflector
Hi-lift Jack mounted to the roof rack with Fourtreks custom mounts
WARN front bumper with fabricated stinger and KC driving lights
WARN Model 25314 9000 lb. winch
Safari Snorkel
Correctly fabricated air cleaner that attaches to snorkel on the passenger side
Custom Off-road fabricated rear bumper with swing-outs for the spare & two 20L gas cans
PIAA lights mounted into the rear bumper
Ladder mounted to the rear hatch
I'm sure I am missing something, but these are the most noticeable upgrades. No rust damage anywhere as this 60 has always resided in Southern California. Zero frame damage anywhere as far as me or my mechanic can tell. The title is clean and it's registered until July 2014. I got it to pass the visual inspection to get smogged by putting in a "correct" OEM air cleaner, which I will include with your purchase. No accidents, but the front clip was repainted according to the previous owner because the paint on the hood and front quarter panels were peeling from sun damage. It has a few minor dings here and there and the paint on the roof is somewhat weathered, but I wanted to keep it as close to original as possible so doing the minor body work is up to the next owner.
I am asking $20K, but I am open to reasonable offers (with the emphasis on REASONABLE!). I know what I have and I am in no rush to sell. If you know a good mechanic or a fellow Landcruiser enthusiast in the San Gabriel area who you'd like to check it out, you can either email me at ocho4i@yahoo.com, or call me on my cell at 323-309-5647. Trust me, if you check it out, you'll know it's worth every penny I am asking for it.
