Seems slow...?

been mentioned a couple times....needed a few days of traffic before any server/software tweaks were going to be made. I made more adjustments to what I can this morning. My sysadmin will be making more on the server end yet this week. We have not set up the CDN yet. Plus lots more...it took 10 years and monthly changes/management to get/keep the old software working smooth.

Redirects to threads are working perfectly. It's still a good idea to update your signature lines with the new URL.

My initial attempt at redirecting other links failed miserably.

@jonharis - and other Supprting members...be sure your preferences are set correctly. The forum links in your signature line should be changed to the current links.

two visits today a couple of hours apart. first visits since the switch.

this place is so slow for me it is unusable. pages are taking 10-15 seconds to load. i am set in preferences to block all ads i can. i am not running any ad blocking software. i have soldiered on through to see what discussions there are about the site.

i am going to make what i hope are taken to be constructive comments for now and come back and see if it is any better later.

If I could give them the mud salute...I would.
It was gone but now it's back. :flipoff2:

Yep, site slow, that's being fixed. What i worry wont be fixed are the links to threads. The old mud made sence and URLs looked good. This new format is all over the place. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/very-slow.800356/ < that doesn't give me any indication about where the thread lives. Anyway, all that is new takes time to mature. I think this format change will be great once it ages a bit. Lots of cool new features.

FYI: there is an entire sub-forum relating to the new mud with lots of questions answered.

Site seems slow in general but in particular when I click "Submit" on a new post... so much so that I have a couple of times now clicked 2 or 3 times resulting in the posting showing up more than once...

There are 3 threads at least on this.

As noted in all three, the site has had ZERO server tweaks until a few days of baseline traffic is available. Maybe tonight.

Every one of my replies have been quick. Even on my phone on 3G. Even tethering at 4G. Even now in my past two posts on a shared non-home connection.

This thread loaded in about 5 seconds. i know in the previous software I was regularly fighting 6-7 second load times. On a better connection.

Huh... Was super slow on my laptop at work, running just fine at home on the desktop.

Seems most issues of slowness are on laptops?

Running latest Internet Explorer here btw

I'm on a laptop...shared wifi (not home)...and sub-3 second page loads are the norm right now. Will keep monitoring.

was really slow about 10 minutes ago when i first got on, but now it seems fine :meh:

Hey Woody, I noticed that the site was moving slow. About 30 seconds per page but after about 5 minutes of letting it run and load the forum page it runs good now. I know you're still making changes just thought I'd let you know

yeah, constant changes...finding/uploading/installing new plugins is a big part right now...and that process is a database hog :)

Works great when I'm not messing with it ;)

are you messing with it now? cause it took over a minute to load this page

Here are my numbers.

Speed isn't my issue. I think it's our computers having to save everything into the cache. None of the links work from previous MUD. So it has to start over. It may also be the five zillion things you can now do on MUD. It's like exploring Alaska...you know it's going to be good, but will you ever get there? Either that or Woody is messing with everybody because he hasn't slept in a week or three.

I will say, when this new software functions, it's brilliant.

gottcha. yes, the site is very slow at the moment. Every click shows the page cycling through 6+ ad servers apparently.
YUP
