My two $35 Interstate "blems" still cranking away, one almost 5 and the other over 3 years now. Call the warehouse and ask what they have in blem stock, you may be pleasantly surprised.

The Interstate near me didn't sell blems anywhere near that cheap in a size similar to the Diehard 31M. They were around $100 with only a 30 day warranty and had a much lower RC in an AGM.

Same as the Sears GOLD not PLATINUM. Autozone sells the same as this one just under another name.

I agree with this approach. The Grp 27 Marine batteries from Costco work reasonably well in our applications. They say they last 3 years but if you keep them charged properly with something like a BatteryMinder here and there, and top the cells with distilled water, they will go longer. The house battery in my 80 is 4 years old and still works perfectly and will hold 12.8V. Considering they are 1/3 the price of the DHP it seems like a reasonable choice. I doubt a DHP is going to last 3 times as long as one of the Costco Marine battries.

Finding Deka regular starting batteries is not easy, but from what you read they are the best manufacturer right now. I appreciate the theoretical advantages of AGM batteries but the price vs value is a bit hard to swallow.

I thought with the newer batteries they are not able to be "topped up" with water? I was told the caps are just for blow off emergency situations?

Yeah, I like the idea of using costco as they are usually all over the place if one goes down and I need a replacement for some reason.

I just got an email for the next friends and family that says it expires Tuesday at 9am central time... Choice of 15% cash off, or 25% back in Points Would equal the amount of points to give you 25% in cash 'back'.

This is for batteries as well as tools!

When I bought my 80 it had a DHP 31m in it and it was 5 years old. I thought I had a power draw but turned out the battery was shot. 5 years is pretty good but at $300 that hurts. I'm going to check out the O'Reilly Deka, that looks interesting

Just exchanged my battery, after one year the 31M Platinum would not hold a charge. Could be my fault for bad maintenance and running it to low, I should know better. I bought a 5 amp battery maintainer to keep it in good shape now. The Sears tech told me the 31M platinum will no longer be made and I just took their last one. If you think you need to replace yours, now is the time. Not sure how true it is but they sounded pretty legit.

It's made by Odyssey so just find an Odyssey 31M & you're GTG.

As for fitting, is there much dimension difference between brands in the BCI 31 group size? Anyone know? I was thinking I would pick this up soon.

Also, I can't figure out what the difference is between this one above and this one

Seems like the top one has less cranking amps but more capacity, and thats about it. Anyone have any insight?

Terminal locations. 1 has them on the side.

They are slightly differences sizes as well. I wonder if 1 has longer RC? Maybe 1 is a newer version? They're probably Deka's, like the 34R AGM's that O'reilly sells. Matbe check Deka's site?

After further research, the top link in your post is the same battery I linked above, the Deka from Tristate.
Shipping from Tristate is $54 so the O'reilly version ends up being cheaper & probably easier to warranty. I've had the O'reilly 34R AGM (same as the Sears Gold AGM) for almost 2 years. I've ran my fridge off it for 3 days of not starting it w/out it going dead. Deka's are GTG. Odyssey's (Sears Platinum) are a smidge better but IDK if worth the extra $$$.

I've ran my fridge for two weeks off of my DHP without starting it. Of course the temp outside wasn't ever above freezing. Outside temp, fridge set temp, and whether or not the fridge is loaded make a big difference when making comparisons.
