She doesn’t even seem to enjoy petting right now. That’s my sign that it’s time. This dog is the attention hound of all time. She’s just not enjoying life any longer and I’m thankful I’ve been preparing myself for this for a while now. Because it’s SO hard. I’m sitting here trying to pet her and comfort her and I know she’s ready by how she’s responding. I made the decision about a year or so ago to not aggressively treat any ailments that came along due to a lot of compounding health issues and age. I also decided to end it for her when I felt she was suffering. That time is now.
Here’s to Lucy, you were loved, you fulfilled a purpose, and you will be missed and remembered. 🍻

My condolences. Losing a companion furry or not is hard. We lost our greyhound Feb '23 and I'm frankly still not over it. I'm hardened and not much bothers me (I am a firefighter after all) but kids and animals get to me.

The euthanasia appointment went as well as possible. Very peaceful way to go. Lots of kind words were said and tears were shed.
Then we had a great, yet short trip to my parents. It’s strange with her gone, but I’m sure I did the right thing for her and our family.

One last selfie with my sweet Lucy.

Looking forward to getting back in the mod game with these new sliders ordered! Then I need to drag the girls out on an actual trail, and camping, been too long. This is the first time I feel like the little one could handle a camping trip without too much crying or extra needs. Will have to be front country camping bc mommy is not a fan of truly roughing it. She needs her plumbing 🚽 🚿

Oh man, sorry to hear about your dog. Losing a pet is a rough thing to go through even when you think you've had time to plan and prepare and you know its time. We lost our basset hound mix to cancer 2 years ago and I still get choked up when I think about that day.

Sorry for your loss, and at the same time happy for the life you gave Lucy and the memories you both had together. I've made the mistake of waiting too long before and that is not how you want to remember her. Trust me on that. You did the right thing at the right time and are wise for doing so, even to the point of being wise beyond your years. Much respect for that and my hat is off to you. And Lucy.

CBI sliders scheduled for freight delivery Thursday. I called Old Dominion and gave them the heads up… no one will be there. Requested a call 2 hours prior to delivery so I can show up and sign for them, then get them into the garage. Hopefully be mid day so it’s easy to leave work pop home and sign then return! 🤞🏻

Getting into this. Driver side almost ready to mount slider. Think my cuts will be solid after a little bit of sanding. Having to tackle this in little bits during naps while parenting my 10mo old. Hopeful to get it done this weekend. Will have help watching kiddo tomorrow. Now to entice an unsuspecting friend to come over to help with the final mounting.

Run some "edge trim" along the cuts and it'll make it look much better!
It's cheap and being black, will never be noticed.

Happy with how they turned out! I even figured out how to mount them without an assistant (not recommended but possible).
Few minor issues. I cut a little too much off the skirt, but it’s pretty even all the way around so I’ll be fine. The back step area is pretty small, the driver and passenger steps are larger, the kiddos would probably appreciate a bigger platform but time will tell. One of the kdss line covers will need a cut to accommodate the front arm of the driver side slider. Overall I’m tickled and looking forward to living with them in the coming weeks/months and once I get some proper skid plates even try my hand at off-roading again! Even if I don’t off road again they definitely look pretty cool and like the way it enhances the look without being gaudy and a non GX Offroad personas not even notice. 😊

Nice fit! Like r2m said, a little edge stripping on your cuts will finish it off nicely!

They look good!
But this is odd, first time I've ever seen "kick-outs" on the front and rear, especially wider on the front.
The idea is to 'scoot' and slide you further away from an obstacle as you slid along it, e.g.: tree, rock. But I agree with preferring a wider step. I'm on my steps all the time with my RTT. With my old MetalTech sliders, I was always on my tippy toes and hated it. With my newer wider sliders I have a lot more purchase, I can stand on the ball of my foot now.

Yeah I agree it’s odd. First time I’ve ever seen or heard of anyone noting it and when I got them I figured the wider area was the back, but confirmed this is the design by looking at multiple places and it’s the only way they will mount. It’s my only real gripe with the design at this point. Trying to pass on my experience to others in case this would be a dealbreaker for them. I still really like the look and am hopeful there’s enough room for little feet and for me to step on for roof rack. I’ll update in regards to that as we use them. So front step area is massive, rear is probably more average.

I thought the same about the design, but based on what Scott said about *maybe* getting back into off-road travel, I reason he probably won't be doing a lot of hard sliding on his rails.

I like the sliders. -1 star for design and my fault for not realizing it from pics because it’s noticeable once I have hands on. In the long run they’re still going to protect my vehicle if/when needed and even though in hindsight I wish they had the same width in the rear as front it’s not a dealbreaker for me.
The finish is beautiful and they look great. It really completes the look to me with the tubular steel roof rack combo. The step on the rear is still effective just not as luxurious as the front steps. I can still stand on the ball of my foot on the rear. They still have side recovery access if needed. Their shipping and packing was great. They definitely corrected the tire clearance issue with an extra angular cut at the front. They didn’t take that long to get them. I also think they’re unique in a lot of good ways compared to most other slider designs. They were fairly straight forward to install.
I’ll still go off-road, but me seeking out challenging trails is the *maybe* aspect from here. I mean it’s built for off road, have to do it every now and then to justify 😊

Agreed! They definitely finish off that area of the car regarding aesthetics!
