Like the title, trying to figure out whether or not to get a ScanGauge II or the new ScanGauge 3. The II looks like it would fit better with the overall theme of the 100.

Not interested in running gauges from a smart phone...

I had a ScanGauge II installed in a mount in my overhead console. It worked great and provided all the information I needed after I had sent in back to the Manufacturer to get the latest firmware and programmed in the correct x-gauge commands for my trans temp and TPMS sensors. The only negative, in my opinion, is that it could only display 4 gauges at one time. I noticed the Scangauge 3 was on sale during Amazon's prime day sale. So, I picked on up. For me, the biggest two improvements the 3 has over the II is the fact that the 3 can display up to 9 gauges at the same time and it will also scan and program itself for the x-gauges that are unique to your vehicle. The one negative is that the 3 is quite a bit bigger than the II. So I had to work with Ben from Ben3dbuild to create a new overhead console mount. While mounted, the 3 does cover up a small portion of the rear view mirror. But in my opinion, it's worth it.

Do you have any pictures? I'm interested in the SG 3 as well but didn't see anything on Ben3dBuild's page last time I looked.

tried to find that info in the downloaded directions....no dice. also a search on youtube has a bazilion one vendor images w/o details.

thanks in advance!

It is solid. It comes with magnets but I used a Velcro strip rated at 15lbs.

Thanks! That new Scan Guage looks so good....wondering if it's worth the loss with the rear view.

With the current version of this overhead console mount, I estimate you lose about 25% of rearward visibility. Now I already have a rear shelf mounted to my rear grab handles. So, my rearward view was already obscured. In my opinion, it's worth it for the gain in instant information.

I have both the SG2 and SG3 (too many vehicles) and I use a mount which attaches to the seat bolt and I have a GPS mounted there as well or the older mounts attach to the console, which I also have a GPS and Dashcam (which makes it so that I can put in a sunshade in without moving the dashcam). I prefer the SG3, so if you want to buy a used SG2 let me know.

There are a lot more options with the SG3, plus the wifi updates. It isn't just 9 items on the screen, but there are 2 additional pages. I really miss it when I drive a vehicle with the SG3. I do prefer the fuel fillup on the SG2 since the SG3 requires you to enter is the gas amount, but is limited to 2 digits after the ".", but most gas pumps give it is XX.XXX, as well, with the SG2 you don't have to enter in anything, just say it was a fillup. Not a deal breaker though.

It would also be really nice to be able to save the settings on a memory card to transfer it to another unit (only have one now, but it would be a pain to setup a second one to be like the first). It is quite a bit bigger, so depending on where you put it, it could be an issue. So perhaps there will be a new version if I wait long enough :).
