Coupon Code: Ih8mud(username)...instructions below

So I spoke to Joey at Linear Logic this morning. He said he is willing to do another run for the scan gauge II. Price will be $149.95 including tax and shipping in the United States. You can purchase the extra cable for $14.95(Normally $20) and basically the total discount will be about $25-30 with shipping factored in.

Joey requested that payments be sent to groupbuy@linear-logic.com(paypal address) and that you write IH8Mud and your username in the paypal note section. You can send $149.95 through paypal and linear logic will pick up the paypal fees.

Again there is no minimum order. You can also call Joey at 888-433-5664 extension 13. I was buying my scan gauge and thought why not help everyone else out as well. This is basically the same info as the old scan gauge group buy that was posted here and in the 80 forum from a while back. It is now officially open per my request to Joey of Linear Logic. This would make a good Christmas present to someone who owns an OBD-II vehicle;)

Here is a link to the actual SGII site:

Spread the word if you can

Call him up, I'm sure he will give you a discount on that rather than the cable;)

I heard good things about both so I cannot choose one over the other, maybe some other members will chime in. I bought an ultra gauge because of several suggestions from fellow members

from a quick review of the ultragauge site and forum, i learned this: cost is $60, the interface looks "nicer", has alarms for each gauge, no current support for transmission temperature. the last point might be a deal breaker for some including me. from the forum it appears that they have been "working on it" for a long time, and when it is finally released it will only support ford and prius initially, so i read this as "might never happen in my time frame".

i haven't read the scangauge website yet, but the unit looks a bit more utilitarian. this could be a point in favor, as some of the UG forum posters were complaining about screen blanking out - i read this as "more complex tech has more points of potential failure. i believe i've read on this forum that peeps have found a code for transmission temp for the scangauge, not sure if its is for all 100 model years...

another option on my radar is the garmin ecoroute. much more expensive and not sure if it includes a gear ratio correction, or if it calcs lengths based on gps, or if there is no correction available. the obvious benefit to this system would be the integrated gps mapping.

i'd like to get my solution lined up this week... i'll be installing headers in about two weeks and would like to compare fuel economy before/after...

I have had my UG for over a year now and my screen went out twice so far, fortunately this is covered in the troubleshooting section of its manual. There may be other reasons for screen blank-out, such as extreme cold temps (think Romer's nav screen), as I've also experienced, and is only temporary.

I switched from a SG just because I preferred the number of simultaneous readings it offers, and its low profile design.

Sorry Leo lol, I'm not helping your cause here I know. :whoops:

I get no benefit for more orders or whatever. I asked the company if they would do the discount for mud again and they agreed to open the coupon code up. That is why I spread the word here:)

Also, thanks for mentioning the UG screen going out, it may help people if they can get defects and negatives of both these devices

Is it better than a blue tooth OBD reader and the Torque app for android phones?

Torque — OBD2 Performance and Diagnostics for your Vehicle

Torque on Evo 4G (In Depth View) - YouTube

If you have an android phone, this is a cheaper and much better option. Screen is bigger, better eye candy software, continuous updates, blue tooth wireless, etc... blah blah blah save a $100 bucks over the scan guage. Not trying to rain on this thread parade, but everyone should know all their options.

For those with an Iphone, there is also the $49.99 Dashcommand app:

The thing I love about my SG is its ready to go and I never have to turn it on, load an app and it's very easy to use. I like the phone app, but I don't think I would use it all the time, to much trouble getting in, mounting phone and finding app.

This is what I use. It is well worth the $45 bluetooth dongle and the $5 app. Just wish I could get transmission temp. :steer:
The Pro version has trans temp and it works on my '00.

Does the SG allow you to log and download the data to a spreadsheet? I find this very useful in the Torque app.

Does UG temp on the ultra gauge = trans temp?

Yes they should! I decided to go with the SG so jus in case someone had plans to I thought I'd share the coupon code. Just like for any other seller/distributor, there are similar products with some being slightly better than other ones. It is all up to the buyer to choose which one is better for their use

Do you use this? I have an OBDII scanner/reader, but working an app on my iphone and/or ipad would be much better for real time monitoring
