Indicated grehol@gmail.com had a FJ40 jack handle I have been looking for.

I reached out to GreHol@gmail.com who a say later replied and mentioned he had a handle for sale. We agreed on a price and payment was made through PayPal.
Once payment was made Greg Holman went GHOST on me..

buyers beware. Not sure if they know each other 🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s unfortunate — thanks for the heads up. Did you get to see any pictures of the handle? You can probably open a case with paypal
 
Either same person or separate but involved in the scam.

This is happening at an increasing frequency on a number of forums that I am on. I have a general rule now that I don't consider any "referrals" anymore.

Freaking scammers...

I did, it was a link to a listing where it was for sale... He requested Friends and Family to avoid seller fees which is why I can’t file a claim. I’m ALWAYS Leary of scammers but he was good. LESSON LEARNED 👎🏼
 
I can sympathize... made a purchase for a factory AC setup late last spring. I kept getting the runaround about it being ship, a brother was supposed to contact me with tracking, then not shipped because of COVID, blah blah blah.

I sent the payment via “Friends & Family” and PayPal was no help. So another member contacted me regarding the seller and recommended I file a fraud claim with my bank. I told my bank the payment was unauthorized & I hadn’t received any goods. A hold was placed on the funds while the investigation took place. One month later, I had the funds back in my account.

Before you file the claim with the bank, make sure ALL PayPal funds are withdrawn. Once they catch wind of your banks actions, they will try to take whatever is in your PayPal account to cover the payment placed on hold.

The seller was trying to spin it as though I was the impatient bad-guy. He did reveal my bank contacted him for a tracking number. Since he couldn’t provide one, the case obviously went my way afterwards.

One last thing, my PayPal account has limited functionality due to the fraud claim. I’m not taking a chance on that PayPal account and have since created a new one.

I was going to contact my bank to follow those same steps, however there was funds IN my PayPal account. The representative with PayPal sated that when a payment is made with F/F then it’s basically like CASH and there was nothing she could do.
Thankfully it wasn’t a large amount of money and I’ll recover. The Jack handle would have been nice but now I need to buy one TWICE 👎🏼
 
Open a case against him on PayPal. If he has no tracking to prove shipment and delivery then you will win for sure. Good luck getting your money back sorry to hear you ran into an dishonest scammer
 
That’s the thing about “Friends & Family” there’s no protection when purchasing something. It’s as good as cash unless you make a payment via bank account. Then you may be able to get a hold placed on the funds through your bank. In my case, PayPal attempted to apply existing funds within my account to cover the payment placed on hold. Since I had a zero balance, it didn’t matter but this gives you an idea of how PayPal will respond.

I have had terrible experiences with PayPal disputes. They almost always side with whoever received the funds and it’s very difficult to actually contact PayPal to discuss it too. No real room for human interaction and discussion with them. If you used a credit card on PayPal then do the dispute with your CC, don’t waste your time with PayPal.

I’ve gotten to where I’m using PP less and less as a result of this. Only on eBay or with people I know do I use PP.
 
Hate to admit it but I think I got scammed as well on a pillars.... won’t send as friends and family anymore unless I know them..... here is their pay pal e mail...

What a s***ty feeling when you realize you’ve been taken advantage of. Sorry to hear the news...

Greg Holmes is the scammer who got me... Sorry to hear about this . Maybe we can post this warning somewhere else here on this site to inform others??
 
Can’t believe someone is scamming land cruiser guys! I do have some really smart computer people who like to track people down on the web. I dont even care about the money. I’ve been trying to get a headlight for a year now.

I have been scammed too a while back, the guy delivered but it's not what he advertised I over paid big time and could not use the dash.
