No explanation for missing badges, (I don't think the current owner even is aware it should have 40th badges) but the reports from the insurance company, police, and courts show no damage other than missing radio. None of the vehicle reports show any damages either.

If I was close by I would buy this truck right now , all the info is good enough that this truck is accident free that's all it matter , who care if the badge is not on it , then get another one salvage or change the VIN due to a stolen VIN # is nothing to do the way the truck drive unless if people buy and flip it to make more profit then than is not cool.

Carfax shows collision damage in 2002. I'm not sure about clean undercarriage or engine bay. From the pictures he sent me, it looks rusty/oxidized, and what looks like the cats eliminated. The body/Interior look very clean but I would check front end damage or repaint. Title washing seems to be pretty common in New Jersey.

Two words. "Buyer beware!"
It's a crap shoot at best. Buyer may end up coming out alright on the deal. If not, three words, "told you so."

indeed smells funny to me....

no doubt east coast (4 season) cars get much more beat up that us west coast folks....
but tis a lot of rust and oxidation for a car purported to have ~70 k original miles....

the interior does look cherry - no rips - no steering wheel fade - note even the back seat mesh only has a slight droop.
exterior pics look good as well - shot lines look very true and straight.....

might indeed be decent cruiser....but $12k or even $10k ??? I would say nay.

I think it would be a good rig at a lower price.

IMO, the 40th value evaporates with the history and ground off VIN #s.

That's how they rust here in the rust belt when they're driven in winter-garage or no garage-low or high miles. You can't get the salt off underneath without taking extreme measures. Once salt's on there it rusts.

Well I thought its accident free I was going to make a phone call , but its not and a lot of rust that is not good at all , I just miss a 97LC one here last week locally all stock lock but high miles but accident free $1500 but two years back tax when I came back to get it someone bought it already .

Yeah good work on the extra pics. Prob to be expected from that area, but definitely not clean enough to eat off of.

Dunno about carfax showing collision damage in 02. Seems strange since that is when it was given the new vin by the state. And it was PA that gave it new vin, not Jersey. Wonder if carfax got that wrong since the other vin check reports show no accidents. Would prob help interested parties if you posted the complete carfax.

Does a 60 series body fit on an 80 series frame?

The quick answer is yes. The job requires quite a bit of work, frame has to be cut to shorten, rear section of frame has to be cut off and new welded back to conform to body of 60, body mounts for 80 body cut off and new welded back etc etc

The collision seems misleading. That report as a total loss from the insurance company was at the same time that Liberty Mutual was taking it through the process of getting the new VIN assigned July 02, then October 02 new vin assigned.

Here are the copies of the reports he sent me which show no other damage than missing radio.
