And it's nice, Layonnn maybe you'd say it's "fun", to merge on the highway and not be getting passed by every mini Van and the distracted driver who was 4 cars back behind you in the merge lane.

How much power do you guys think the 4sp can handle? I have been talking with a local tuning shop that wants to design a TT setup for the 2UZ's. I'm all for the added numbers, but worried about the 4spd exploding under the added power.

I'd really be happy with just adding some spunk to the 4.7L. So maybe another 50-100hp. I'm hoping that's achievable thru some porting, new cam (very mild), some polishing and ports thing of parts. We'll see I guess but anyone have thoughts.?

My suggestion would be regearing to 4.88s.

I am extremely happy with having done this.

I think some of you guys bought the wrong vehicle. The power is plenty for the type of vehicle that it is.

There's not a vehicle in history that didnt get revamp'ed once or twice. Even the space shuttle. Toyota realized it too. So it's not worth mentioning " it is what it is". Unless you like the world passing you by.

Manufacturer HP are Flywheel HP. So if the V8 has 230, i would expect a 20-25% loss at the wheel in AWD (that means 1 wheel drive), maybe 10% more if the center diff is lock. 350hp at the wheel is ALOT like in a 450hp engine.

Layonn, how are your MPGs now? Also, do the 4.88s help at freeway speeds, like merging or passing? I find that to be the only time I really lack power in the 470. It's great around town and on the trail but there's a lot of time I am in the +45 mph and find the truck needs a bit more.

I do a lot of city driving, I find the only way to get the full power from the 2UZ and 4sp is to manually shift it. When I'm merging onto the interstate (they have lights that let cars in one by one, the on-ramps are very short do to this, especailly with traffic moving 70-80mph) I use 2nd and power. I find the transmission shifts way to prematurely for a 50-75% throttle merge. I always shift the 100 :meh:

You guys need to take my 2F equipped FJ60 for a ride. :flipoff2:

I'm pretty sure a 100 is not a sports car, yet I can fly by most people when merging or passing without even fully opening it up. I rarely even notice my trailer, in fact I've forgotten I was towing it a couple of times.

I am extremely confused by the post that think this truck is in anyway underpowered for an SUV.

I'm with Rusty. I think the biggest issue is the transmission... the engine has power but I don't think the tranny makes the best use of it. Or understands what I want to accomplish from time to time... If I could program the shift points, it would make a world of difference.

Why would you lock out first to accelerate from a dead stop in an AWD vehicle?

yeah you paid a mint, I was trying to pay a mint on it too!:flipoff2: Well anyway Im glad a fellow mudder got it.

Yah good to see it go to a mudder.
