Hi My sender is stripped and leaking I tried teflon tape and high temp sealer but still leaks but I didnt clean it, this time I will clean the area and try it again, I may be able to re-tap and die it. any other ideas?

which is stripped? sender?--replace. Block? helicoil or drill and tap. A die if for cutting/chasing a male thread. A tap is for addressing a female thread.

Understand the tap and die thing... its on the block the male end is good. what about steel flakes that drop into the motor? just change the oil?

You may want to try and push a piece of a shop rag into the hole so that you can pull it out with needle-nose pliers when you are done. Wouldn't hurt to change the oil & filter after running it a short while should some shavings get by. But on second thought, this port is under pressure so it could arguably simply push the metal shavings out, not in.

Depending on the severity of the stripped threads, you might be able to get by with cleaning it real well and using some JB Weld. The stuff really does have many uses.

Another thought is that you could always plug this oil pressure port and use the one above the oil filter. I use the port behind the intake for the OE gage and the oil pressure port above the oil filter for my aftermarket gages.

No problem on my clarifying the definition and use of taps and dies. Your comment 're-tap and die' indicated to me you did not know.

are these easier to deal with? how far above or how far behind are these ports? got picts?

no prob on the tap and die I dont mind the extra info you dont know me from Adam :)
thanks for the help have a beer on me;-)

If you coat the tap with thick grease it will normally catch the swarth - take it out several times and clean/recoat during the process.

Put a rag over the hole and crank till oil pressure comes out will clear the rest.

I'm thinking I would clean the area real well, then apply two-part epoxy (J B Weld) and call it a day!!!

X2, I asked a helicoil rep once about this type of situation, he said to use grease on the tap. Sounded plausable to me.

You may try to retap w/the same size pipe thread as stk. They
are tapered. If that doesn't work then drill and heliciol or tap to a larger size. If you have to drill, be sure to put grease in the flutes of the drill too.

thanks!! those are so great ideas....I degreased it then jb welded it and I'm calling it a day :)
