SBC 5.7 TBI Swap / VSS Help needed

Just an update, several similar VSS sensors will come up that are compatible with the SBC TBI engines. The one that works with the advanced adapters port is NAPA part # VSS239. The others wont fit.

Looks like it will work and will be a much less expensive than the JTR sensor. Will let you know for sure once we get this thing running.

Sweet! Awesome information and has gone into my log for eventual swap. Debate still rages as to TBI vs. Vortec for me strictly based on availability and price component.

I had the same debate. Ended up going with TBI due to the fact it will probably be 1/3 of the cost. While it lacks overall performance of the Vortec it offers a reliable engine that is easy to work on.

All of my research into the TBI vss signal is that it only really has to be present not accurate, per-se. I would try the Isuzu rodeo/trooper vss and see if the 4 pulse per rev causes an actual problem. Get one at the junk yard. It'll cost just a few bucks.
