^^4500 usually means 1FZ-FE... Like our U.S. Market 80 series engine.

Well the issue is it can't be a V8 as well as a 4.5L...

So which one is it?

My bet: regular UZJ100 with a bunch of GCC stuff imported in and installed.

:meh:
I could be wrong but I do remember riding in a 2007 LC 100 that had the same decals and was a 4.5L V8 Diesel when I was visiting 'friends' in Afghanistan. I refueled it and it definitely came from the green can.

If it was just tacked on stuff I can't understand the tires and airfreshener. Nobody would or could get those tires here.

i don't know what that console is but its nothing like the cooler console we had in our '01 LC in Dubai. Ours was no different in size than a regular armrest/console. Loved it though...that thing would cool 6 or so sodas to uncomfortably ice cold temperatures in no time.
man i miss that Toyota. Went out and bought an '05 LX but it doesn't seem quite the same.

So called "non-conforming" 1999-2006 non-US-spec IFS 100-Series are importable to the US under a 2012 NHTSA ruling.

"Nonconforming Motor Vehicles Decided to be Eligible for Importation ... 2. Why did they have to throw that "IFS" term in there

To distinguish it from the solid front axle 105 LC, which is officially a 100 series truck.

Importable is one thing, but that doesn't address any potential emissions issues with the diesel, does it?

For what it's worth, it doesn't look like the Hundys were ever offered with a 4.5L diesel. There is a 4.5L 1VD-FTV turbo diesel, but it wasn't available in the Hundys unless Wikipedia is incorrect.

Yeah, I looked into it and the EPA still has that side of the import regulations in place. However, their requirements for importing expire in a 21 year timeframe, so we could potentially import IFS 100 series LC's with the 1HD-FTE four years earlier than planned. That would be nice...might have to revisit the idea in 2019...

Thanks I didn't know a 105 existed, hence my IFS comment.

No, it would be the responsibility of the registered importer to ensure EPA standards for diesels are met at the Federal level and yours to ensure compliance in the state the vehicle is registered in is my guess. EPA diesel standards went up significantly in 2007. Maybe the reason for the early MY cut-off of Sept. '06 and why '07s aren't eligible?

Maybe, but doubtful as the NHTSA deals solely with the safety conformance side of things. But your theory is probably the best guess at this point. It sure would be nice to have a HDJ100...or HZJ105...

Didn't know it myself until I was shopping and researching. The 105 is sold in what I'd call "extreme use" markets, like Russia and Africa. Somewhere i read it's basically a 100 body placed on an 80 chassis. If it's not the entire chassis, it definitely uses the 80 drivetrains.

Ok, f this whole farce of s&$t; am I on candid f'ng camera?!??!?

Is this a concerted effort of Opie Taylor's to mind f$@k me?

How totally unrealistic is it to express scarasm in writing?

FZJ100
1FZ-FE 4.5 L petrol I6 - 158 kW (215 PS; 212 hp) at 4,600 rpm - 373 N·m (275 lb·ft) at 3,200 rpm

This is the "normal" LC 100, we have in Asia and middle East (I live in Vietnam) and is named FZJ 100 = IFS 100 with a I6 petrol 4500 EFI engine with manual 5 speed gear. Normally the center armrest will be fitted with a cooler (same armrest size with or without cooler), and driven by the normal A/C. Most LC from 2005-07 is IFS. They came with central lock only. Almost all are 3 row vehicles with A/C in the rear, and HID is standard in the headlight (high only)

Front panels show early design 98-02, IIRC rear lamps equate to 2002. So I guess 2002. Depends on actual market release for what the original engine was.

That is very cool about the exemption. That said, aside from RHD JDM 100's that the ANZAC folk can get for seemingly amazing prices thanx to Japan's unctuous taxes/registration/et al on older vehicles, I wonder about the pricing. As is, a number of US 100's are exported.

Could prolly get a killer deal on a JDM 100, but fun it is not to drive an RHD hereabouts.

Speaking of imports... My buddy just sent me this.

"diesel LC from Belgium." (With picture if a 200 series that I won't post cuz his license plate is showing and I don't know if calling him out online will screw him over in any way)

I asked "how?" He replied "don't know. Guy is rich though."

Thanks, I needed a laugh.

'Specially if you have to pass Papaw on one those few straight (and short) stretches of the Dragon :D
