I wish I could start tomorrow! But no can...

Haha that's classic.. But in all seriousness why would Toyota make the 105 if there wasn't an obvious demand for a v8 live axle cruiser?? I am certain there are hundy owners out there who would love a straight axle version 105. I know I'm not the only one... Slee's conversion is sweet, I Would love to wheel with my wife and daughter in leather and a/c call me crazy but my days of bashing around in old trucks with wild dirty hippie girls are over... I fan barely get her to ride in the taco lol.

105 had the 1FZ-FE not the 2UZ-FE

Seriously I was on your side for a bit, but you are loosing me at this point...

And really do not drop a companies name as well established as you have without backing yur shat up..

Get at it or get out of this community..:flush:

As I tell my kids who are grown ups now, excuses are like aholes, we all have one... quit acting like one...

Could work and less cutting...

If any aversion to cutting exists, there's no point in this project.

toyota made a solid axle 100

Not really.

I thought 105's were a 100 body on a 80 drivetrain.

If memory serves, the 105's are also on an 80 Series chassis. Though never offered with the 2UZ as stated above.

105 is merely an 80 with an even fatter ass body. The rest is, essentially, an 80 including the I6, be it petrol or diesel.

I hope you get it done.

It is disappointing to read all the negativity about what you want to do from some folks here.

The build thread will be awesome for sure.

It's just negative people's excuse to share their misery.

I love the different opinions... I like the diesel too, but I also would rather have a v8 solid axle cuz it's fast and I already have a slow truck (3rz).

And like I already said the frame is different so the work to use a 105 axle would be the same so might as well go 1 ton. No my project won't happen soon, but how many threads have I seen where some guy is like ' I got a stock 100 yay' and a million people suggest things to do IN THE FUTURE.

I will SAS it, and it will be sick! Until then I'll just have to wheel IN MY OTHER CRAWLER that I already built.

Its not like I'm some kook who hasn't already built a truck claiming they can do something they haven't a clue about.

Haha and I'll drop any name I want buddy it's a forum not political address! Slees truck is just a good example of a built one, and one of the few that I have seen and a great reference to what can be done. You guys are hilarious and so uptight. I'm gonnabuild my precious hundy in to a luxury rock crawler and it's going to take a while to get started and if I ever get it done I will be very happy to have a taco SAS and uzj100 SAS. I'm stoked for the guys that think they don't need it, cuz quite frankly they don't. My Tacoma is a whole nother level of awesome with 261:1 crawl ratios and locked SAS, why would my 100 be awesome like that? I wouldn't even need dual cases with the slush box just the reduction gears from marlin.

here's a shot of my taco just in case anyone is doubting my claim. It has racks on it because it's my dd and no I don't crawl with the racks on.

The 105's simply did not ever offer a V8. Rather, as has been stated, they were offered with the 1HZ and 1FE I6's. Speaking only for myself, I damn sure have not gotten "my butt hurt" about anything you have posited.

And I just double checked you are right that the 105 didn't cone with a v8, but regardless the point is it would be awesome to have one... And Wikipedia even states that 'due. To no wanting to compromise off road ability, the 105 series was sold in certain countries instead of independent front torsion bars..."

Torsion bars were made for the nancy americans that would rather give up off road capabilities... Well this guy want a live axle under there and it'll be just plain great!!

Hey guys you got me I made a mistake saying the 105 had v8' my bad is that really that important regarding this thread? My truck WILL have a straight axle AND a v8.

You plan on using links or leafs? If you going to do it, links would be the way to go! Leafs would be a wast of time and money IMHO. This is where you can go seriously right or seriously wrong depending on your skills and experience. Enough talk! 3 pages in, it time to bust out the plasma cutter :)

And if you want to help out others who may be considering such a project, document your work with a new thread in the Hard Core forum. I believe the poster who mentioned that the factory solid axle 100 series trucks were running on 80 series frames is correct. This implies that significant frame mods are necessary, which makes the job more challenging than SAS on newer Toyota pickups.
