I have the 555 UCAs, finishing the install this morning. They are as their ball joints are, built well. They look really nice and I got them at $70 each from partsgeek.com. So QC coupled with price, I’m not sure they can be beaten.
My UCA, like the rest of Blue, were pretty crusty and making some squeaks. As I just rolled 300k I figured now is the time to refresh the front. Even if I got 5 years out of them, I’m not going to be too upset at their price point. That said, as Blue gets older she’s becoming more and more a crustacean, so I only intend for her to be on the road for a few more years anyway. I bought it rusty (18 winters in MI, now 24) and knew it was probably going to get worse. But at $4500 and an encyclopedia of maintenance records from the original owner, I didn't mind and still don’t.

You can read more about them here on Mud:

Hey Cruiser Outfit!

I am in need of lower ball joints and my LCAs are pretty rusted so I figured just replace the whole assembly and be done with it. I noticed on your website that it appears you guys make your own branded LCAs? Is that correct?

I am going to be buying LCAs through you guys anyways but these were significantly less expensive so I was wondering if you could shed some light on how they perform and stack up against OEM?

Thanks!

Our house brand UCA/LCA offerings are a white label import. Good quality for a high mileage vehicle needing a stock duty replacement on a budget. For those pushing with taller suspension, larger tires, and/or offroad use, the 555 ans OEM variants are the recommended solution.

Looks like Sankei 555 is now offering complete upper and lower control arm replacements for the 100. Looks like stock caster, but great they include the joint and bushings already, huge cost savings over OEM. @cruiseroutfit they in stock and available?

Do they still make these? I'm not finding them listed anywhere, including on the @cruseroutfit website.

Thanks. I found them on the cruiserteq.com site and placed an order. Hopefully, it was telling me the truth when it said they should be delivered in a couple of days, which would be perfect so I can get them installed this weekend. My ball joints are starting to sound bad.

Easy! They should ship tomorrow (Tuesday) and you'll see them (Wednesday) in Logan

Dang nam it!

Of course I've just found this thread after buying the 555 ball joints from I think it was cruiseryard ebay store, and was looking at other cheaper than OEM aftermarket arms to press them into. Doing the LCA bushes wasn't appealing after previous experience on my old Surf (mainly not having correct sized presses etc.). Very limited for shops and tools on my tiny island.

By chance do Sankei 555 make the LCAs on their own without LBJs?

And if not, which of the aftermarket LCAs is decent enough for me to use? Rockauto other stateside supply. Mild-med occasional offroad, lots of 'spirited' use on rough concrete twisty back roads as a work truck.

Sorry no, they all come pre-installed from Japan.

The problem is the metal quality and the inner bushing. You're either swapping the joint itself or the bushing. We stock a "jobber" LCA similar to RockAuto offerings I suppose. They are great for a daily-driver, family hauler that doesn't see off-road. With larger tires, lift, off-road use, etc, the 555 or OEM are really the preferred solution.

FYI the OEM UCAs are $136 ea. from Impex.. but you don’t get the great service and quick shipping as per cruiser outfitters
