We have plenty of those - they are camped out at every intersection during daylight hours. We have run across a few hobo camps out in the woods though :hillbilly:

FJ60Cam: I like it! All of it! Funny...back in a former life...I've slept (& ate) under a bridge like that...out in the middle of Kansas...apart of an HD gang.

Hmmm...from a couple nights ago. Betcha can't guess this sammich!

Ok...needed to take a left turn as I was getting burned out on my typical fare. Think Salvadoran griddle sandwiches ;): Pupusas for dinner tonight.

Leftover roti chicken + fresh roasted poblanos and new mex green peppers + pasila sauce + jack and sharp cheddar for the stuffing. Sandwiched between two thin masa cakes made from masa harina and water and then browned (both sides) on the stove top griddle in a little sunflower oil.

These would be a perfect camp dinner for two or many depending upon griddle/skillet space!

Fabulous idea Dan. Is the pasila sauce just a simple pepper puree? MORE INFO PLEASE :D

Dan, next time your in town we need to get lunch at Casa De Oro. It's an El Salvadorian place over on Longley by The Spicy Pickle.

I cheated: It's store bought Herdez Pasila sauce in a jar (they recently intro'd Pasila & Guajillo...respectable). Normally I make my own red sauce from scratch...just ran short on time today.

Is that a bacon grilled cheese??

Call me 'more than a little out there'...:D...but I like tempeh, which was the base for that sandwich. Tempeh...just fermented grains...also is great for the trail as it's easy to keep in the fridge for weeks...and versatile. And a healthy offset for all the pork :)

New one on me.. never heard of tempeh before. The :princess: new exactly what it was, explained it a little more in detail.

I use it for variation for ruebens...and also works great for subbing for meat in taco salad.

Technically this is more of a taco, but it is handheld and portable, so I'll call it a sandwich.

I took some brisket (store bought)...

...cut it up and heated on the griddle. Then sprinkled on some top-secret Memphis rub to give it a little sweet to go with the salt and smoke, stirred and allowed to caramelize a little...

Then I put some flour tortillas on the griddle, transferred the meat and drizzled ever so slightly with some local bbq sauce and then topped with fresh mozzarella. I let the tortillas crisp up before removing and topping with fresh guacamole.

Here's a sammich I had on the Utah trip. Cooked on a stove in the Canyonlands Airport parking lot right before I hopped on the plane to go home.

Andy kept calling these "hot dogs", but I think the package said "bratwurst".

This was easily the worst meal I had all week! That's how good the food was!

Speaking of butter, clogged arteries and good eats :D

You guys heard of stuffing a burger with a pat/Tb of butter? Isn't worse than the meat fat but I can definitely see how it would add to burger juiciness! Methinks I'll give it a go the next time I do burgers...

Cam...the chopped brisket taco looks like something I should be eating right now :D
