It was in with a bunch of other parts I bought in a lot purchase. Here is a photo of the label that was on the box

There was a thread here on mud from another member who installed an Exel tank in his 200 and I believe he bought it from Tembo in the Netherlands. I don't see a website for Exel anywhere.

I have this exact one installed in my 77 for a number of years now. Its been awesome. Important to note, if being installed on a 77 the storage compartment will be in conflict and needs to be modified, other that its a direct fitment. I've done nearly 500miles on one fill up, had more left but I didn't want to test the accuracy of the fuel gauge.

I documented the install in a thread somewhere.

I've been looking for a larger tank for my 73, but after a few minutes of searching I'm at the usual standstill regarding this particular model...but if it was somehow possible, I'd be very interested. Anyone have any input on that?

Edit: Gonna call dibs on this temporarily while we figure out some fitment details. 👍

I am in at $550 if nobody on the thread ahead of me doesn’t pick it up. My 77 needs one in a bad way. Thanks

We tried to fit one under a 1993 Troopy. No go as the top of the tank does not match the floor it bolts to.

Still have that tank sitting here because of that.

Cheers

Hmmm. I'm not sure of the differences between the troopy floor and the mid-length floor. @ddub and I have both been investigating, but unless we get an answer from the manufacturer - 🤞 - I think this is going to come down to me trying to fit the tank.

If we do get a mostly-positive answer, I'll give it a shot; if it doesn't fit, I'll relist it...and if they say it isn't gonna fit anyway, I won't buy it. No reason to lock it up when others may want it.

It has a specific section that pops up at the top, its not flat all the way across, which is probably what makes it difficult to use in different 70 series application. It would not be too difficult to have that part modified, any welding shop should be able to do it. You would still be money ahead with the cost of the tank.

The important dimensions, height and width are correct to fit in the 70 series frame.

The overall quality is very good, I think that added effort/cost is worth it to make this tank work.

Thanks for the detailed write up. I see the conundrum around the raised section on top of the tank. I appears to me that there might be a chance a guy could cut that area and carefully weld in a patch.

It could be done, yes; I've already checked with a local shop that works on this kind of thing. The question is whether or not that raised area is actually a problem. The stock tank has a similar feature, but it may not be a similar proportion...so we may not know until we try.

I PM'd you- interested in Austin, TX.
