As a matter of fact I am looking for a cheap 4bt for my 74 (AKA BUGGY) it will be my Kids truck!

You can make a diesel smell better with french fry oil, but the noise still remains.

I'd do the Mercedes Benz diesel conversion before the 4bt.

I always thought it would be cool to have a SMALLER/lLIGHTER version of either a mog / volvo portal axle or a top loader like the 2.5 ton military.

2.5 ton axles are supposed to be super easy to work on aside from the weight. Wouldnt know, i have not worked on one though
Top loader has good ground clearance with a shaved housing

Lighter housing
Smaller axle shafts

Basically a 2.5 ton axle shrunk in the dryer ; )

Lenny get some longs and break them first...then call Bossman he has about 90% of the axles you would actually want to use at the Mecca.....but this message will self destruct in 5.....4.....3.....2....

I heard Mr. Franklin speaks well at the Mecca.

If you look back in the thread getting longs is the plan and always has been.. The "what if" portion (different axle combo, portals, whatever) of this thread came in after i begun to think about what to build if i started breaking Ring & pinions in the mintruck axles i have. I doubt i will break the longs. The longs will just shift the weak point to my 4.10 gear set. Its the reason i kept the 4.10 vs.4.88s or 5.29s. I wanted the strongest gearset in there. We will see how long the mini truck diffs last.

If they dont last i want to be ahead of the game with what axle type ,combo i will go with.

Love tim camerons axles. Is there a build thread? Tim went from 2.5 axles ( fat girl), to dana 60 70. 14bolt style ( jenny craig buggy). Back to a hybrid type 2.5 ton style top loader. If i am off, whatever yall get my point .. I hope.

front Dana 60 pass-side drop and a rear 14 bolt.

obviously if I found said axles... I'd have no use for the NINE fjcruiser steelies and four 2" wheel spacers.
 
Lenny you can get mini truck diffs with 4.10 for like a c note.....carry 2 spares and a 18v impact and call it done'o.

Yes I know you are putting in longs but just had to needle a bit.
 
But in a million years you will never in your worse moment ever abuse something like that kid does. That whole rock-bouncing thing is barely a close cousin to the rockcrawling that you do.
