All,

I am looking at a 2014 Salsa Red Metallic 200 about 7 hours away from me, so I can't get down there to see it in person before making the deal. I have never been a big fan of red vehicles, but this one checks all of the boxes for me- low miles, certified, black interior, etc. I really want to love this vehicle, especially for how much $ it is. Those of you that have or have seen this color on the 200 in person, how does it look? Does it really stand out in person v. pictures? I realize this is very subjective and ultimately my preference, but your feedback is very appreciated as it's hard to judge by pictures alone.

Thanks,

Tim

I've seen the LC in this color, and it is stunning. Almost bought it, but got a better deal on my 08. Would have been my first red vehicle also, since I'm not a fan either. I'm not good at describing color (duh, I'm a guy), but it isn't red as much as a burnt burgundy, or something like that.

To me, there is no bad color on a LC. How much it shows dirt and gets hot in the sun are my only real factors for choosing when I have a choice. Either way, you will probably fall in love with it and soon think it is the best color in the world (just like most people on this forum).

I like it. Not as much as green, but I think I like it more than black or magnetic gray that you usually see.

I has a salsa 4Runner - it really looked nice with black trim and rims..... suspect the LC would be even better.... my only issue noted was that it did show road grim a bit more then colors other then black.

like you I've open my choice of colors up more then I would normally - other then black, a non-starter in Texas !

hoping to have a 200 in my hands before months end......

My favorite Color

Of course my next favorite color is Freeborn Red

I initially didnt want Red to be Honest as my 100 series was white, but when I saw it I knew it was right. Adding the armor really makes it look awesome

I'll echo others, Salsa Red turned out to be a lot better than I imagined. Wasn't on my 'must have' list when I was shopping, but it turned out that way and I'm very happy.

Here's some shots of the Red LCs in action:

2013+ models added more bling. 2008-2011 don't have the chrome.

Edit: 2013+ also adds turn assist, front camera while in 4LO, adaptive cruise control, and some other convenience features but overall drive train, etc. are the same

Your rigs are awesome looking! This made this a much easier decision. Thank you! Hopefully I can put the deal together tomorrow once my sales guy is back. I've got a bunch of take offs from my Tundra, including my method wheels. I'm hoping those will work on the LC. They are 18x9 Method Standards with +18 offset. I'll have to sell my king coilovers and upper control arms to finance a new set for the LC. A new build to come for the LC. Needless to say I'm excited!

@kreiten can chime in on your wheel fit if going before a lift, but I think you'll want the lift first / same time as mounting those 9" wide rims...

Otherwise, with a lift, several others are running Methods (I've got NV's with 20mm in my wish list currently) and have no rubbing issues...

And yep, from a Tundra, you should be good to go with the 5x150 18x9 with 18mm... 18 might be on one end of the spectrum, I was (in my mind) aiming for 20-25 range, but hopefully 18mm is not an issue.

I'll check with you guys when I have all the parts ready to go. I'm hoping I can make those wheels work.

I just got an email from the dealership saying that they mis priced the deal. Now it's $2k more... unbelievable. They have an out b/c they don't populate the vin # on the quote. I will give them the benefit of the doubt at this point b/c I just asked to have them review by the management and let me know. If they don't honor it I'll let you and everyone else know, so you can avoid them. It wasn't a stupid deal either, just $2k discount from asking. I guess I may be back to looking for the right LC... Now I really like the red :)

Can't go wrong with the red. I was initially against it but it has grown on me so much I've added another red Toyota to the herd as well.

I personally think red is the best color on these trucks. I like my gray, but they're all gray! At least I have some other stand out features, if not for the color. Good luck on your purchase, I hope it works out for you.

Great news! The dealer general manager called this morning, apologized and is going to honor the original deal. We pick it up next weekend and are making it a long weekend in the Corpus Christie/ San Antonio area. I doubt I'll get it off road on this trip, but who knows if a random trail beckons. :) Thanks again everyone! I'll post pics once I've got it.

Man if you're in Corpus, just take your new rig out to the beach. I've driven that beach from Port Aransas to Corpus many times. You'll enjoy it and get to play with all the cool 4wd features of your LC.

Congrats on the Salsa Red LC. I had a 08 copy in Salsa red. Traded it to a Tundra as I decided I wanted more interior legroom amd to not part with my '97 LC.

Quote me a price for your tundra king suspension as I am looking for a mid travel set up. I have been on the fence between TRD pro shocks and an all out MCM fab setup with Deavers and rear ADS bypass shocks. Just haven't decided what to go with and I might just be willing to rock Kings if the right deal made itself available.

seems for the LC the OME BP-51 is the best solution. Sometimes I wish I would have kept the '08 LC and gone with this system. Was not yet available when I made the change.

The saga continues, a work meeting this morning results in me having to go out of the country for the next week and other commitments have it so I can't get down there until early Sept. The dealer wasn't a fan of holding it that long. As an FYI for others there's a 2014 certified with 15k down at Autonation Toyota Corpus Christi. Talk to Albert. I'll be back in early Sept to get it if someone doesn't get to it first. In the meantime, I'll be doing what allows me to afford toys- working.

@Tinbeach if you are planning on lifting your new cruiser and have kings on your tundra, pull all the lift off the Tundra and transplant it onto the cruiser!!! It will widen the stance and handle like a dream. My truck is the second salsa one in Kevin's pictures. Tundra upper/lower control arms, CVs and Icon shocks. Hit all the trails in Ouray and never scraped stock front/rear bumper or sliders.
200 Series Lift using Tundra front IFS and Icon shocks
