Ok, it's probably so simple I shouldn't even ask, but y'all deserve some amusement too... and it would be nice to actually get this done.

Here's the deal... went to do the Saginaw pump modification (increasing the pressure point) as described in one of the tech links and... I'm hung up on one of the early steps. Project calls for removal of the 1" retaining nut/assembly and with the unit clamped in a vice I can't get the nut to budge even w/ a breaking bar on the socket. What gives? Is it a left hand thread or something odd? Hate to start breaking parts so early into the project so some input would be GREATLY appreciated!

why didn't I think of that?! Impact wrench worked like a charm... 5 days to go...
