Hijack: Is that your naked Goldwing under the cargo blanket? I was wondering if you still had that thing. Me, valentine, Jman, and 3jvj are probably doing an Oregon coast ride in August... probably hotel / credit card mode, not camping...

Are you planning on making a modified version of your front seat storage bins?
Yup.
Working on that right now.

Yup.
Why, you need to borrow it for the ride? :D
That's the only bike I have left now (I asked too high of a price for that one since I like it so much :p) It's doing a real good job holding up that blanket these days.

I bought a '90 VFR750R, it's in val's garage waiting, well except when he's riding it to work to "test" it.

I was inviting you. :)

Hummm, yeah, I guess I didn't post anything that shows that.
You can kind of see it here:

It looks better, you'll just have to take my word for it for now.

No kidding that would really open up the mounting possibilities. All the drilling and countersinking an threaded inserts get old, lots of chances to screw it up as well.

I'm working on the carpet now though and it's nice to be able to unbolt the rails and then bolt them back down over the new carpet.
So it has it's advantages.

Awesome looking rig there man.

He welds, he bends metal, he sews.....its Superwrench!

Yup.

That is sick my friend, good work:D It looks like you cut off the factory seat and console brackets, then attached this box system to the tub somehow. Nutserts through the floor?

I'm first in line when this becomes the newest product for the 60.:grinpimp:

Oh, thanks! That would be fun, but I would have to camp though and I don't think I could keep up with a VFR. :p
Actually, we are hoping to take the new body to AK in August so as long as we can pull that together we wont be around anyhow. Perfect time of year to hit the coast though....

Real men know how to sew! :grinpimp:

You need to sell those....
Well... It "bolts-in" now. So it's a start.

I drilled out the spot welds on the stock brackets but left the front cross brace. The new box is bolted to the 4 seat mounts, the two middle body mounts and the seat belt mounts.
It's not going anywhere. :D I made it to drop right in over the carpet and there is no welding involved.

Carpet came out nice:
With the double padding in there it did wonders for the sound as well.

IMG_7875.jpg

This one's for you Johnny!
Great idea.
IMG_7873.jpg

Got carpet on the seat back as well, bound the bottom edge since I didn't want it continuous with the cargo carpet.

IMG_7858.jpg

I fastened the bottom edge on with screws and finishing washers.
I can't help but think that Mr. T planned for this contingency since there are mount points along the bottom of the seat.

Also got the roof net back in.

This is the only way to layout where the holes need to go:

Looks pretty bad in this pic, but it gets the job done, really handy for truck camping:

Hopefully get more done tomorrow.

Man, you know how to take a good picture:grinpimp: That wire lock pin setup for the rear seat bottom looks better on your truck than mine! What length pin did you use?

When are you going to start selling the seat bracket / storage bin setups?

I redid my interior twice, and it doesn't even look half as nice as this.... maybe in a few years, third time will be the charm....

Every time I look at this thread I am blown away by the quality of your work. Keep it up!

3/8" dia x 3" Linch Pin. Great idea Johnny, ashamed that I didn't do that years ago.

When are you going to start selling the seat bracket / storage bin setups?
When I figure out how much they are going to cost.

I'm constantly working at it, I think this is technically way past the third time. :p

Anyway, got the insides mostly buttoned up today.
Seats are all back in.

Whole rear cargo area as requested:

Forgot to post when I got new AC lines. Found a great shop over in springfield (the owner is a bit of a cruiser guy) and they worked with me on making lines that actually fit. Also set me up with a new condenser that I mounted ahead of time, AC runs much healthier now with a some modern components.

Thought to take a pic that shows the black rocker a bit better before it got completely too dark.
The lines are just better that way for some reason.

IMG_7949.jpg

And also got a new sticker on the tire swing-out. :p (very important)

Spent most of the time this weekend working on getting the flip up windows working right, I posted a video clip in the window thread in my forum.

That's it for now.

in the first pic, with the front seats, what is that funny looking seat in the middle? i haven't seen one of those before:hmm:

R-12, 134, or the new R-Elebentybizjiooion12345....?
(Yeah, we got our re-certify letters this week.)

That's actually a calibrated seat inspection tool.
I got the version that matches the interior so it's an understandable confusion.

I had already switched to 134a since we were in NY. There is plenty of R12 around here still though so I might switch back.
The air already works much better than before with the new condenser and evaporator. The old evaporator had corroded in the fins pretty bad, most likely from the humid salty winter road air.
The new one has a much better flow, and then I also cleaned and insulated all the ducts, so improvements all around.

Kevin, I'm trying to understand the seat/box setup. Do the seats bolt to the lids, and then the seats tilt back when you open the box?

you guys in oregon get all the cool stuff.
